The University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) is inviting applications from interested and suitably qualified persons for different positions available for the 2024/2025 recruitment exercise.
As the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC), Legon expands its operations; it has secured Financial Clearance to hire additional employees into the positions advertised below. (Note: Salary is based on the Single Spine Salary Structure of the Government of Ghana).

DIRECTOR OF MEDICAL AFFAIRS (Job Ref: DMA/07.0119)
The position holder will have the following duties:
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead in the development of clinical care policies, guidelines, protocols and standards.
- Facilitate and coordinate the functions of Medical and Surgical Specialties, Pharmacy, Nursing and Midwifery, Medical Laboratory, Diagnostics and Imaging Departments/Directorates.
- Lead in the definition, type, level, and mix of clinical care services.
- Lead in the development of systems for monitoring and evaluation of clinical care services across the UGMC.
- Contribute to the planning of capital development projects.
- Ensure quality assurance programmes are in place.
- Contribute to policy development, analysis and review.
- Contribute to the development of medium/long term strategic plans and the implementation and evaluation of health policies.
- Contribute to the development of in-service and post-basic training programmes for clinical care.
- Coordinate Clinical teaching and Postgraduate Clinical programs.
Educational and Professional Qualification
- Fellowship of a Professional Medical Body (e.g. GPGC, WACS).
- Qualification in a Health Management or related field (at least a HAM certificate) is a MUST.
- Evidence of leadership and continuous professional development and training in Health Management.
Knowledge & Experience
- A minimum of FIFTEEN (15) years cumulative clinical experience, FIVE (5) years of which must be at the Secondary/Tertiary level of care.
- A minimum of FIVE (5) years working experience within the total of 15 years in (1) above MUST be in a hospital management/ leadership position.
- Minimum FIVE (5) years Post Fellowship working experience.
- A broad knowledge base and experience in development and implementation of policies and operating procedures, quality assurance and coordinating and implementing research and development programs.
- Evidence of research output and experience in service development.
Skills & Abilities
- Excellent problem-solving, written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to organize and manage workload, work on own initiative, and lead and manage a multi-disciplinary team.
- Work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS (ADMIN & FINANCE) (Job Ref: DO/07.0219)
The position holder will have the following duties:
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development, maintenance and running of a sound
administrative set-up. - Lead in the development of medium/long term strategic plans for the UGMC.
- Facilitate and coordinate the functions of specialized Departments/Directorates like Finance, Human Resource, Legal, IT & Health Information, Procurement and Stores.
- Contribute to the development and dissemination of policies, procedures and guidelines in general administration and other specialized areas like Finance, Human Resource, Procurement, legal, IT and Health Information and Stores.
- Facilitate the development and maintenance of a central database on
health infrastructure. - Contribute to the disposal of obsolete equipment, plants and transport.
- Contribute to policy development, analysis and review in the UGMC.
- Contribute to the development of systems for monitoring and evaluation of procurement management, general administration practices, and health projects across the UGMC.
- Contribute to the implementation and evaluation of national and international health policy directions within the UGMC.
Educational and Professional Qualification
- Post graduate qualifications in Operations/General Management (Master’s or higher or its equivalent) -OR-
- Post graduate qualification in Health Management, Planning and Policy or related fields (Master’s or equivalent).
- Evidence of leadership and continuous professional development and training in Management.
Knowledge & Experience
- A minimum of FIFTEEN (15) years’ working experience in administration or managing organizations, a minimum of FIVE (5) years of which is in a management position.
- A broad knowledge base and experience of policies and operating procedures relating to administration and managing organizations.
- A broad knowledge base and experience of administrative practices and procedures, contract administration, quality assurance and coordinating and implementing Research and Development programmes.
- Secondary/tertiary hospital level experience is an added advantage.
Skills & Abilities

HEAD OF INTERNAL AUDIT (Job Ref: HIA/07.0319)
The position holder will have the following duties:
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide leadership for the Audit Team and coordinate their activities.
- Provide advice on financial and audit policy issues to nonfinance/finance managers.
- Plan financial and operational audits in line with the organization’s objectives, structure, policies, processes, internal controls, and external regulations.
- Identify risk areas, prepare audit scope, objectives and programmes.
- Investigate instances of fraud and make recommendations to prevent future occurrence.
- Assess risks and internal controls by identifying areas of noncompliance.
- Evaluate manual and automated financial processes, identifying process weaknesses, inefficiencies and operational issues.
- Verify assets and liabilities by comparing and analyzing items and supporting documents.
- Provide financial control information by collecting, analyzing and summarizing data and trends.
- Verify all procurement documents by ensuring compliance with relevant existing procurement regulations.
- Assess compliance with financial regulations and undertake financial statements review and controls.
Educational Qualification
- Master’s Degree in Accounting or related field.
- Certified Member of IIAG/ICAG/ACCA/CIMA/CIPFA with at least FIVE (5) years post qualification work experience.
- Evidence of continuous professional development.
Knowledge & Experience
- A minimum of EIGHT (8) years total working experience, five (5) years of which must be post qualification.
- Knowledge of general administrative practices and office procedures/protocols.
- Thorough understanding of: General Ledger Accounting practices, Cost Analysis and Accounting Principles.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety, Computer and Accounting Software.
- Demonstrate supervisory/team leader experience.
Skills & Abilities
- Ability to design financial spreadsheets and analyze data and information.
- Possess analytical and problem solving skills and the ability to demonstrate and participate in effective team work.
