Regional Maritime University (RMU) Admission to Welding and Fabrication Programmes 2024/2025 Academic Year
LATEST UPDATE: As of the time of publication, the Regional Maritime University (RMU) mature access form for the 2024/2025 academic year is not yet out. This post is intended to serve as a guide to prospective applicants.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the following programmes for the 2024/2025 Academic Year commencing SEPTEMBER 2020.
WELDING AND FABRICATION I: DURATION- 6 WEEKS
This course covers introduction to shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), knowledge in applied basic metallurgy, introduction to blueprint reading and sketching, measurements and acquisition of welding skills in the flat, horizontal and vertical positions.
ENTRY REQUIREMENT
Candidates must have at least basic elementary education i.e. BECE, Senior High School qualification, three (3) years technical education, among others.
BENEFITS
- Candidates will be introduced to safety in the welding environment
- Candidates will acquire the art of measuring and measuring devices of the trade
- Candidates will acquire skills in blueprint reading and sketching
- The skill of beads formation will be imparted to Candidates
- Candidates will be equipped with skills in the flat, horizontal and vertical welding positions
WELDING AND FABRICATION II: DURATION – 8 WEEKS
This course leads to the acquisition of skill in vertical and overhead welding positions apart from exposure to more applied metallurgy and skills in metal fabrication. Detailed blue print reading, interpretation, acquisition of welding skills in overhead and pipe welding is also covered.
ENTRY REQUIREMENT
Candidates must have at least basic elementary education (BECE), Senior High School (SHS) qualification, three (3) years technical education, among others and must have done the Welding and Fabrication I (Part One) or be persons engaged in the trade and want to acquire the skills in Welding and Fabrication II (Part Two).

- Candidates will acquire skills in overhead and pipe welding
HOW TO APPLY
[I] DOMESTIC APPLICANTS
All applicants for the 2024/2025 Academic Year admissions are required to use the Regional Maritime University (RMU) online application portal. The procedure for the online application process is as follows:
[a] Make appropriate payment as indicated below at the various sales centers for the RMU E-Voucher:
- Welding Fabrication I, & II: GH¢120.00 or $40.00
Sale Centers
[i] Regional Maritime University, Nungua – Accra, Cash Office
[ii] All Branches of the Ghana Commercial Bank
[iii] All Branches of Ecobank [foreign and local]
[iv] All Regional and District Post Offices across Ghana
[b] The E-Voucher contains the Pin and Serial Number required in completing the online form. [c] Access the online form by visiting the University’s online admissions portal at www.rmu.edu.gh/admissions soon after payment. [d] A completed form is not considered until it is SUBMITTED. [e] Applicants are advised to check thoroughly all details entered before finally submitting their online applications. A form, once submitted, can be viewed, but cannot be edited. [f] Applicants must print out application summary; attach transcripts, certificates and all other relevant documents. These documents should be forwarded to the Academic Registrar. [g] Candidates are strongly advised to visit Courier Companies in their Countries for assistance towards the return of the application documents [see f]. [a] Log onto the admission portal : www.rmu.edu.gh/admissions [b] Click on International Applications and follow the instructions displayed on the page for the completion of the form. [c] Applicants must print out application summary, attach transcripts, certificates and all other relevant documents. These documents should be sent to the Academic Registrar.
CLOSING DATE
The closing date for submission of applications is 31st August. Candidates should note that no applications will be accepted after the deadline.
