The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) is a University in Winneba, Central Region of Ghana. Its main aim is to train teachers for the education system of Ghana. The University of Education, Winneba is charged with the responsibility of teacher education and producing professional educators to spearhead a new national vision of education aimed at redirecting Ghana’s efforts along the path of rapid economic and social development. The University of Education, Winneba is expected to play a leading role in Ghana’s drive to produce scholars whose knowledge would be fully responsive to the realities and exigencies of contemporary Ghana. It was established in September, 1992 as a University College under PNDC Law 322. On 14th May, 2004 the University of Education Act, Act 672 was enacted to upgrade the status of the University College of Education of Winneba to the status of a full University.

The University of Education, Winneba announces for the information of the Academic community and the General Public vacancy for Director of Works and Physical Development.

The Position

• The Director of works and physical development is the head of the office of works and physical development of the university.
• S/he is responsible for the development and maintenance of all physical infrastructural facilities of the University

Required & Experience

The Person

• Possess a minimum of master’s degree and relevant professional qualification a recognised institution
• Be a registered and practicing member/fellow of a recognised professional bodies
• Possess a B.S.C degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Quantity Surveying / Architecture or any other relevant degree from a recognised institution

Intending Applicants must also have:

• Considerable post-qualification experience in project management, procurement management, physical development, build environment, etc in a higher educational institution or analogous institution
• Handled and completed a project of a considerably high magnitude and value witin a team environment
• Proven leadership and managerial capabilities to lead and coordinate staff and activity
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills
• Considerable experience in office practice and procedure
• a minimum of 15 years post-qualification experience
• a minimum of 12 years post-professional qualification experience

Terms of Appointment

The appointment is full-time. The successful applicant should be able to serve a 4 year term of office before attaining the compulsory retiring age 60 years
