SHS Re-Opening Date for 2026/2027 Academic Year

The Senior High School (SHS) 1, 2 and 3 re-opening and vacation date earlier for the 2026/2027 academic year has been announced.

Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES), wishes to inform staff, parents, students, and the general public that SHS academic calendar for the 2026/2027 academic year has been released.

SHS Re-Opening and Vacation Date 2026/2027

Below is the breakdown of the reopening date for Form 3, 2, and 1 students in Senior High Schools (SHSs).

Form 3 (Final Year Students)

• First Term: 18th September 2026 – 18th December 2026
  • Break: 19th December 2026 – 31st January 2027
• Second Term: 1st February – 18th June 2027
  • Easter Break: 25th – 30th March 2027
  • WASSCE Period: 6th April – 18th June 2027

This schedule gives final-year students ample time for preparation and revision before sitting for WASSCE.

Form 2

• First Term: 18th September 2026 – 29th January 2027
  • Christmas Break: 19th December 2026 – 4th January 2027
  • Break: 30th January – 29th March 2027
• Second Term: 30th March – 30th July 2027
  • Break: 31st July – End of Academic Year

This group enjoys a mid-term break that allows them to continue learning remotely before resuming onsite classes.

Form 1 (New Students)

• First Term: 18th September 2026 – 29th January 2027
  • Christmas Break: 19th December 2026 – 4th January 2027
  • Break: 30th January – 29th March 2027
• Second Term: 30th March – 30th July 2027
  • Break: 31st July – End of Academic Year

This structured timetable helps first-year students smoothly integrate into the double-track system while balancing onsite and online learning.
