How to Apply for Brazilian Visa in Ghana [Step-By-Step Guide]

Brazil is the world’s fifth largest country by both area and population and also the largest country in both South America and Latin America. Brazil is also the largest Portuguese speaking country in the world and the only in America. The population of Brazil is approximately 190 million.

However, if you are traveling to Brazil you will need a visa that is specific to the reason for your travel. Depending on the purpose of your travel to Brazil, there are different types of visas that will apply to the occasion. Whether you are planning to go on a visit, study or work and reside in Brazil permanently, you will have to apply for a different Brazilian Visa, accordingly.

The process of obtaining the Brazilian visa is quite easy and relatively uncomplicated. It is however advised that you obtain all necessary information and follow the outlined steps to avoid mistakes or complications. The following are the different classes of Brazilian visas available to Ghanaians.

Type of Brazil Visa – Brazil Visa Application

Diplomatic and Official (VIDIP, VISOF): This type of visa is for foreign diplomats and government officials traveling to Brazil on official missions.

Tourist (VITUR): This type of visa is for who visit Brazil as tourists or as participants in sports/artistic events, conferences and fairs.

Business (VITEM-II): This visa category is for individuals who visit Brazil for business purposes.

Student (VITEM-IV): This type of visa is for those who wish to complete their academic education in Brazil.

The Work – Temporary Visa V (VITEM V): this type of visa is solely required for individuals who want to travel to Brazil to work under an employment or a contract.

General Requirements for Brazil Visa Application

There are certain conditions that must be met and a number of documents that one must make available to be eligible to visit Brazil. They are as follows;

• Valid Passport: A valid international passport that is not older than six months and has about two extra pages for your visa to be stamped and endorsed.
• Brazil Visa Application Form: Original copy of your completely and accurately filled and signed electronic visa application form. You must attach a copy of your receipt and photograph on the form, and all other necessary documents to the form. Note: the passport must be glued not stapled.
• Travel Itinerary: An itinerary showing your provisional airline bookings( copy of your tickets) as well as the hotels you booked and addresses if applicable(physical and contact address including phone numbers for verification).  This should also show your scheduled dates of arrival and departures.
• Two recent passport photograph.
• Proof of payment of visa fee (see below).
• Proof of sufficient funds.
• An invitation letter from a person living in Brazil that you will be visiting or staying with.
• Proof of internationally acceptable vaccination: show evidence of yellow fever vaccination endorsed by an acceptable medical practitioner.
• A letter of introduction with vital information such as your physical address, mail address and contact phone numbers.

Underage

Applicants under 18 years of age must provide a notarized letter of consent signed by both parents or legal guardian authorizing the Embassy to issue a visa. The Embassy may request other documents if deemed necessary.

For work visa

If you are applying for  a work visa, you may also need;

• A recent certificate to serve as evidence of non-criminal record and duly certified by the police department.
• A letter from your employer with appropriate stamp and signature. The letter should contain the following details;

-your designation

-your financial positions

-proposed dates of arrival and departure

For Entertainers

For individuals who are travelling as artists, for cultural events or as entertainers and those applying for resident visas;

• Authorized Letter of Sponsor showing the date and venue of events.
• A letter from your employer or sponsor stating the details of the job and nature of the contract, this should be on a letterhead paper duly stamped and signed as appropriate.

How to Apply for Brazilian Visa in Ghana

• Fill the Brazilian visa application for online (Click Here).
• Pay the necessary visa fee (see below).
• Submit the visa application fee at the Brazilian embassy in Accra from (Monday to Friday, from 09:00hs to 13:00hs).

Note: Applications will only be processed by the Brazilian Consulate in Accra after your application has been authorized and received from Brazil.

Brazil Visa Fee in Ghana

The visa fees vary for different forms of visas so ensure that you are paying the correct fees for the type of visa you are applying.

• VIVIS  – Visit (for tourism, business, transit) – GHS 400
• VITEM  (except VITEM III and  VITEM V) – GHS 500
• VIDIP – Diplomatic – Free

The visa application fee is non-refundable. The Brazilian consulate will not refund your visa application fees if your visa ends up been denied or rejected.

The consulate also will not refund fees in the case where an applicant withdraws his application or once processing has commenced.

Collection of the visas

Once the visa request has been approved by the Embassy, applicants must collect the visa in a maximum period of six (6) months. After that time, applicants will have to apply again, paying the corresponding fee (if applicable).

Brazil Visa Processing Time in Ghana

The average issuing time for tourist and business visas is five (5) to ten (10) business days. Longer waiting periods may apply if further information on the qualification of the applicants is deemed necessary. Other types of visa require specific processing times.

Third parties can collect the passports on behalf of the applicants if they are in possession of an authorization letter signed by the latter.

There are no rush or emergency fees.

Important Notice

• Visas shall be denied to any foreign citizen who, when submitting his/her application, behaves in an aggressive, insulting or disrespectful manner.
• Entry visas to Brazil can only be obtained at Brazilian Embassies and Consulates. Attempting to enter Brazil with fake visas will be cause for arrest and prosecution of the passport holder by the competent Brazilian authorities.
• Visas issued on passports of countries with which Brazil does not maintain diplomatic relations do not imply the recognition of such countries.
