UEW Commissions 103-Seater Modern ICT Laboratory
Management of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) on Friday, 3rd May, 2019 commissioned a 103-modern seater Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Laboratory at the Faculty of Educational Studies Block, North Campus, Winneba.
This adds up to the existing ICT centre at the South Campus of the University and also serves as a source of great relief to UEW students who otherwise would have travelled on a daily basis to the University’s South Campus for ICT lessons. The GH₵ 500,000 ICT centre will also enhance teaching and learning as well as intensify research and academic work on campus.
The Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Prof. Anthony Afful-Broni expressed excitement towards the realisation of one of Management’s key dreams for UEW to be a centre of excellence and the first class Teacher Education University in Ghana.
He affirmed that UEW has the largest number of students, with over 69,000 students, in Ghana thus, the need to expand its ICT infrastructure for effective academic work.
The Registrar, Surv. Paul Osei-Barima Esq., who gave the purpose of the gathering, said “we are here this morning to officially commission the second ICT centre in Winneba and outdoor it so that the trumpeting of student centeredness in the administration of Rev. Fr. Prof. Afful-Broni would be manifested.
“We are living our dreams and getting there gradually. I want to assure all of you that this is going to be a kick-off to improve upon the infrastructure in terms of ICT. I therefore, implore all of you to give us your maximum cooperation.”
The event, spiced with beautiful renditions by the Department of Music Education saw the presence of the Ag. Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. James Kagya-Agyemang; Ag. Finance Officer, Mr. Bruno Chirani; University Librarian, Mr. Viscount B. Buer; Director of Development, Arc. Kwame K. Danso; University Chaplain, Rev. Dr. Alexander Edwards; Deans, Heads of Department, other staff and Student Leadership.
