Important Notice – Ghana Armed Forces Recruitment for 2025/2026 has commenced.
General Eligibility for Recruitment into Ghana Armed Forces
Eligible applicant must:
a. Be a Ghanaian citizen by birth.
b. Be of good character.
c. Be not less than 18 years of age and not more than 25 years for Non – Tradesmen and not more than 27 years for Tradesmen by 30 December 2025.
d. Be medically fit by Armed Forces standards.
e. Be not married.
f. Be not bonded.
g. Be of minimum height of 1.68m (5’6”) for males and 1.57m (5’2”) for females. For Military Police only; be of a minimum height of 1.75m (5’9”) for males and 1.70m (5’7”) for females.
h. Have six (6) Credits (not less than Grade 6)at BECE including English and Mathematics.
i. Have six passes (Up to Grade D7 for Army Candidates in English and Mathematics and other 4 passes and grade C6 for Navy and Airforce in all subjects) at WASSCE or the requisite credit/passes in respective trade qualifications from GES at Intermediate or Advance Level.

Ghana Armed Forces Special Medical Intake Requirements
a. In addition to the General Eligibility applicants must have credit in English and Mathematics (not less than Grade C6) at WASSCE.
b. Must have any of the following from an accredited institution of higher learning with at least one (1) year working experience in a recognized health facility:
(1) General Nurses. Diploma in Nursing (Registered General Nursing/Registered Mental Nursing/Registered Community Nursing/Emergency Nursing) and must have completed the mandatory rotation. Must have registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council of Ghana.
(2) Nurse Assistants. Certificate in Nursing (Community Health/Health Assistant Clinical) and must have completed the mandatory rotation. Must have registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council of Ghana.
(3) Midwives. Diploma in Midwifery (Registered Midwifery) and must have completed the mandatory rotation. Must have registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council of Ghana.
(4) Pharmacy Technicians. HND in Dispensing Technology must have completed the mandatory national service. Must be a registered member and be in good standing with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana.
(5) Technical Officers (Dental Surgery Assistants). Diploma in Dental Surgery option and must have completed the mandatory national service.
(6) Technical Officers (Dental Technology). Diploma in Dental Technology option and must have completed the mandatory national service.
(7) Technical Officers (X’Ray). Diploma in Radiology Technology and must have completed the mandatory national service. Must be a registered member and in good standing with the Allied Health Professions Council.
(8) Technical Officers (Nutrition). Diploma in Public Health (Nutrition) or Food Health & Nutrition and must have completed the mandatory national service.
(9) Technical Officers (Health Promotion). Diploma in Public Health (Health Promotion) and must have completed the mandatory national service.
(10) Technical Officers (Disease Control & Surveillance). Diploma in Public Health (Disease Control) plus one (1) year of mandatory national service. Must be registered and be in good standing with the Allied Health Professions Council.
(11) Technical Officers (Medical Laboratory). Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology plus one (1) year mandatory national service. Must be registered and be in good standing with the Allied Health Professions Council.
(12) Technical Officers (Physiotherapy). Diploma in Physiotherapy plus one (1) year of mandatory national service. Must be registered and be in good standing with the Allied Health Professions Council.
(13) Technical Officers (Orthotics). Diploma in Orthotics plus one (1) year mandatory national service. Must be registered and be in good standing with the Allied Health Professions Council.
(14) Technical Officers (Health Information). Diploma in Public Health (Informatics) plus one (1) year of mandatory national service.
(15) Technical Officers (Biostatistics). Diploma in Statistics plus one (1) year of mandatory national service.
(16) Technical Officers (Veterinary). Diploma in Field Animal Health/Veterinary Laboratory Techniques plus one (1) year mandatory national service.
(17) Biomedical Engineering Technologists. Diploma in Medical Equipment Technology from an accredited institution of higher learning and must have completed the mandatory national service.
(18) Technical Officers (Environmental Health). Diploma in Public Health (Environmental Health)plus one (1) year mandatory national service. Must be registered with the Allied Health Professions Council.
(19) Technical Assistant (Environmental Health). Certificate in Public Health (Environmental Health). Must be registered with the Allied Health Professions Council.
(20) Human Resource/Administrative Assistants. Diploma in Human Resource Management/ Administration/ Management Studies.
(21) Archival/Records Officers. Diploma in Archival Studies/ Records Management from an accredited institution of higher learning.
(22) Stenographers. Diploma in Business Studies (Secretaryship option) from an accredited institution.
(23) Caterers. HND in Hotel, Catering, and Institutional Management and must have completed the mandatory national service.
(24) Technical Officers (Hospitality). HND in Hospitality Management or its equivalent and must have completed the mandatory national service.
(25) Technical Officers (Supply). HND in Purchasing and Supply and must have completed the mandatory national service.
(26) Field Technicians (Disease Control & Surveillance). Certified in Field Technician (Community Health) and must be registered with the Allied Health Professions Council.
(27) Physiotherapist Assistants. Certificate in Physiotherapy Must be registered with the Allied Health Professions Council.
(28) Medical Laboratory Assistants. Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology plus one (1) year post-qualification internship. Must be registered with the Allied Health Professions Council.
(29) Environmental Health Assistants. Certificate in Environmental Health Must be registered with the Allied Health Professions Council.
(30) Biostatistics/Record Assistants. Certificate in Health Records Management
(31) Ambulance Drivers. Certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) – Basic with a driver’s licence “B”.

Ghana Armed Forces Recruitment Phases for SMI
All shortlisted applicants will proceed through the following phases:
- Documentation Phase. Qualified applicants will be invited to come along with their original documents for documentation
- Body Selection Phase. Applicants will be physically examined to order to ensure their physical look conforms to the Armed Forces Standards
- Aptitude Test Phase. Examination will be conducted for all applicants to know their level of basic logical reasoning capabilities
- Medical Examination Phase. Intensive medical examination will be conducted at the 37 Military Hospital for all applicants who have qualified up to this stage
- Vetting Phase.
- Interview Phase.
- Admission to the Training Center.
How to Apply for Ghana Armed Forces Special Medical Intake Recruitment
1. Acquire an Electronic Voucher at TWO HUNDRED GHANA CEDIS (GH₵200.00) from the following designated Post Offices.
2. The GAF recruitment portal can be accessed on Wednesday 1 October 2025.
3. Scratch gently to reveal the pin code. The scratch card can be used for three times until a record is successfully submitted.
4. Log on to the recruitment portal at apply.mil.gh using Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.
5. Read through the entry requirements thoroughly.
6. Click on the Apply Now Tab to open the applicant authentication page.
Filling the Application
- Enter your card serial number, pin code and select your preferred arm of service, type of qualification i.e. (Non-Tradesman or Tradesman) and click Next.
- Enter your personal details and take note of the following from pages 1 to 3:

Select your desired vacancy and preferred regional screening centre for physical examination from the venues listed below:
- Greater Accra – Accra, El-Wak Sports Stadium.
- Central Region – Cape Coast, Sports Stadium.
- Upper West Region – Wa, BK Adama Youth Resource Centre.
- Upper East Region – Bolga, Jubilee Park.
- Ashanti Region – Kumasi, Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
- Eastern Region – Koforidua, Youth Resource Centre.
