The authorities of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has released the senior high school (SHS) selection register. This is coming following the release of the school selection guidelines for the 2020/2021 academic year.

Download GES SHS Selection Register
The Ghana Education Service (GES) SHS selection register contains all the names of senior high school, location, school code, district, programmes, email address, gender across the 16 regions of Ghana.
The list contains a total of 721 senior high schools grouped based on categories (A-D) and across all the regions. It also contains a list of programmes for private senior high schools. Additionally, it contains the list of public technical institutions and their courses.
Private candidates should see the SHS selection process for guidelines on how to select their preferred school.
Computerized School Selection and Placement Systems (CSSPS) Guidelines for Selection of Schools for Placement 2020
As part of measures to ensure a smooth placement of qualified BECE candidates for 2020, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has put in place the following arrangements for the information of parents/guardians/candidates and the general public.
A. Grouping of Schools
All second cycle institutions have been grouped into CATEGORIES as follows:
a. Public Second Cycle Institutions: Four groups namely Categories A, B, C and D
b. Category E comprises all 2nd cycle schools that offer Technical/Vocational Programmes
c. Private Schools -Senior High/Technical Vocational Institutions (Categories F & G)
B. Updates Added
I. All Technical/ Vocational Institutions have been categorised into A, B and C, and added to SHS/ SHTS.
II. Category E comprises all 2nd cycle schools that offer Technical/Vocational Programmes.
II. Appendix A; contains Detailed Technical/ Vocational programmes.
III. Appendix B; contains Detailed Senior High Technical/ Vocational programmes.

C. Before Selection of Schools and Programmes
Before making any selection of schools and programmes offered in these schools, parents are advised to note that all schools selected (1st to 5th) are considered in placement of candidates.
D. Conditions for selection of schools
Candidates with guidance and assistance from parents/guardians and school authorities:
a. Must choose five (5) schools (1st – 5th choice).
b. Must select programmes and accommodation in each school of choice.
c. Candidates must list choices 1- 3 in order of preference
d. Candidate’s 4th Choice must be from Category E
e. Candidate’s 5th Choice must be from Category D.
f. May select three (3) choices from Category C and One (1) each from Category D and E
g. Cannot select more than two (2) schools from Category B
h. Cannot choose more than one (1) School from Category A
i. Candidates who desire to pursue purely Technical Programmes may select all 1st – 4th Schools from Technical/ Vocational Category, Category E and must still select the 5th Choice from Category D.
PRIVATE SHS and PRIVATE TVET SCHOOLS are not BENEFICIARIES of FREE SHS
Candidates who desire to pursue courses in private schools should make their own arrangements with Private SHS and PRIVATE TVET.
NOTE: Regardless of the categories chosen, candidates must arrange their choices in order of preference
