Job Description
To manage World Child Cancer’s programmes in Ghana, supporting the Paediatric Oncology Unit at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) and KomfoAnokye Teaching Hospital (KATH). Oversee the delivery of WCC’s projects, including a 3-year project funded by Department for International Development (DFID). Ensure the financial accountability of funds, reporting to World Child Cancer on a quarterly basis. Build the organisation’s profile in the country and develop fundraising capacity.
• Responsible for overseeing the delivery WCC’s programme in Ghana, including a 3-year DFID funded project
• Develop in collaboration with WCC and KBTH monthly and quarterly work plans and budget forecasts
• Responsible for the implementation and monitoring of workplans and budgets, communicating any significant delay or issue regarding the implementation
• Assist in the development of strategies to achieve project aims
• Compile quarterly narrative reports
• Communicate progress with healthcare professionals and administrative staff within the project
• Attend training and develop relevant knowledge and skills
• Support WCC’s local and international partners, building strong working relationships to deliver shared goals and objectives
• Support the Finance Manager to compile quarterly financial reports
• Report all expenditure to WCC, communicating any significant budget variation (overspend or underspent)
• Guarantee that WCC financial procedures (as per Finance Manual) are correctly implemented
• Maintain and develop accurate schedule of activities
• Assist WCC and KBTH to develop a monitoring plan and ensuring its implementation, giving regular updates
• Assist WCC regular monitoring visit and external evaluations
• Identify and develop partnerships with local supporters
• Collaborate with local fundraising groups to gain support for the project
• Maintain and develop databases of contacts and donors
• Assist local fundraising groups to write letters and applications to local funding sources
• Support WCC UK head office fundraising strategy and development of applications
• Assist WCC head office with communication materials for use on the website and social media
• Facilitate Project Committee meetings on a quarterly basis
• Organise workshop logistics for medical and nursing staff
• Organise local and International training events including booking flights, accommodation and visas
Qualification Required & Experience
• 5 years’ experience in a similar role
• Post-graduate degree in a relevant field
• Substantial experience of project management including project planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation and narrative and financial reporting.
• Practical experience of designing and implementing child health programmes, including experience of working with international, national and local partner organisations
• Strong financial background including experience managing and tracking project budgets
• Commitment to WCC mission, vision and values
• A naturally proactive person who will critically assess their own performance.
• Team player with good communication skills.
• Fluent in spoken and written English
