UMaT Postgraduate Admission Form 2024/2025 is out | The University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) postgraduate admission forms for Ghanaian and international students has been released for the 2024/2025 academic year.

 

 

The University announces to the general public the sales of admission forms for postgraduate programmes. The sale of Admission forms is open to the general public.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the following engineering programmes:

  1. MSc and MPhil in Geomatic Eng., Geological Eng., Mining Eng., Mineral Eng., Mechanical Eng., Electrical & Electronic Eng. and Mathematics.
  2. PhD in Geological Eng., Mining Eng. and Mineral Eng.

UMaT MSc AND MPhil PROGRAMME ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

A. MSc / MPhil in Geomatic Engineering

  1. Applicants must have BSc First Class or Second Class (Upper Division) in Geomatic or Geodetic Engineering or its equivalent in Earth Sciences and related Engineering programmes from a recognised university.
  2. Holders of UMaT Diploma in the Ear th Sciences who hold senior positions in an appropriate industry and have at least 5 years professional experience and proven ability in their discipline are eligible for admission.

B. MSc / MPhil in Geological Engineering

  1. Applicants must have a BSc First Class or Second Class (Upper Division) or its equivalent in Earth Sciences and related Engineering programmes from a recognised university.
  2. Holders of the UMaT Diploma in the Earth Sciences who hold senior positions in an appropriate industry and have at least 5 years professional experience with proven ability in their discipline are eligible for admission.

C. MSc / MPhil in Mining Engineering

  1. Applicants must have BSc First Class or Second Class (Upper Division) in Mining Engineering, relevant Engineering or Earth Sciences from a recognised University.
  2. Holders of UMaT Diploma who have at least 5 years of professional experience and with proven ability in their respective disciplines are eligible for admission.

D. MSc / MPhil in Mineral Engineering

  1. A BSc First Class or Second Class (Upper Division) or its equivalent in Applied Sciences and related engineering programmes.
  2. Holders of UMaT Diploma in the Earth Sciences, who have at least five (5) years professional experience with proven ability in their discipline are eligible for admission.
E. MSc/MPhil in Petroleum Engineering
  1. A BSc First Class or Second Class (Upper Division) or its equivalent in Petroleum Engineering or related engineering degrees from a recognised University.
  2. All other applicants who do not satisfy the requirements of (i) above but have petroleum-related degrees from a recognised University may be eligible after careful consideration of the background and relevant documents.
  3. All applicants who do not have Petroleum Engineering will, upon admission, be required to take and pass three (3) non-scoring introductory modules as a prerequisite for the main Petroleum Engineering modules.

F. MSc/MPhil in Mechanical Engineering

  1. Applicants must have BSc First Class or Second Class (Upper Division) in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering and Engineering from a recognised university.
  2. Holders of UMaT Diploma in Mine Mechanical Engineering or Earth Sciences and related Engineering programmes who hold senior positions in an appropriate industry and have at least 5 years of professional experience with proven ability in their discipline are eligible for admission.

G. MSc/MPhil in Electrical and Electronic Engineering

  1. Applicants must have BSc First Class or Second Class (Upper Division) or its equivalent in Electrical and/or Electronic Engineering or in related Engineering disciplines from a recognised University.
  2. Holders of UMaT Diploma in Mine Electrical Engineering who hold senior positions in an appropriate industry and have at least 5 years professional experience with proven ability in their discipline are eligible for admission.

H. MSc/MPhil in Mathematics (with Specialisation in Computational
Mathematics/Statistics/Financial Engineering)

The Department offers three Master’s Degree Programmes. These are:

  • Masters Programme in Financial Engineering
  • Masters Programme in Computational Mathematics
  • Masters Programme in Statistics
  1. Applicants must have BSc First Class or Second Class (Upper Division) in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science and Engineering from a recognised university.
  2. Applicants who do not satisfy (i) above but have degrees in Mathematics, Statistics
    with Economics, any Engineering field or other related physical sciences and are adjudged suitable by the departmental board may be interviewed.

I. Master of Business and Technology Management (with specialisation in Finance and Investments / Supply Chain Management / Management Information Systems)

  1. A BSc First Class or Second Class (Upper/Lower Division) or its equivalent in Business, Social and Physical Sciences, Technology and Engineering related programmes.
  2. Applicants with UMaT Diploma in Earth Sciences, who have at least five (5) years
    professional experience with proven ability in their disciplines.
  3. All candidates shall pass an interview before admission.

This is a weekend (Saturday and Sunday) programme.

J. MSc Engineering Management

  1. A BSc First Class or Second Class (Upper/Lower Division) or its equivalent in Business, Social and Physical Sciences, Technology and Engineering related programmes.
  2. Applicants with UMaT Diploma in Earth Sciences, who have at least five (5) years
    professional experience with proven ability in their disciplines.
  3. All candidates shall pass an interview before admission.
    This is a weekend (Saturday and Sunday) programme

UMaT PhD PROGRAMME ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

A. PhD in Geomatic Engineering

  1. A candidate shall hold a Master’s degree or its equivalent, from a recognised
    institution and shall submit evidence of adequate training and ability to undertake
    the proposed programme.

B. PhD in Geological Engineering

  1. A candidate shall hold a Master’s degree or its equivalent, from a recognised
    institution and shall submit evidence of adequate training and ability to undertake
    the proposed programme.

C. PhD in Mining Engineering

  1. A candidate shall hold a Master’s degree or its equivalent, from a recognised
    institution and shall submit evidence of adequate training and ability to undertake
    the proposed programme.

D. PhD in Minerals Engineering

  1. A candidate shall hold a Master’s degree or its equivalent, from a recognised
    institution and shall submit evidence of adequate training and ability to undertake
    the proposed programme.

E. PhD in Mathematics

  1. A candidate shall hold a master’s degree in Mathematics (with specialisation in Statistics, Computational and Finanacial Engineering) or its equivalent from a recognised institution and shall submit evidence of adequate training and ability to undertake the proposed programme.
  2. A candidate, who does not satisfy the requirements stated above but is otherwise adjudged suitable, may be admitted.

Note:
A PhD applicant who does not hold a Master’s degree shall first register for a master’s
degree by research. If he/she proves himself/herself to be of sufficient calibre by the end of the first year of the programme, he/she may be recommended to register for the PhD degree; this registration shall be deemed retrospective from the date of the original registration for the Master’s degree.

HOW TO APPLY FOR UMaT POSTGRADUATE ADMISSIONS

GHANAIAN APPLICANTS
Applicants are required to purchase the Online Admission E-vouchers from any branch
of Access Bank, GCB Bank, Ecobank, Zenith Bank, Cal Bank, UBA, Fidelity Bank,
Stanbic Bank and Post Offices in all Regional, Municipal and District Capitals at the cost
of Two Hundred and Fifty Ghana Cedis (GH¢ 250.00). The E-voucher will be
used by the applicant as the login details on www.admissions.umat.edu.gh
The completed online application form should be printed and submitted with the relevant documents to the address below:

FOREIGN APPLICANTS

Foreign applicants should follow the steps below.
1. Applicants should fill in the online admission code request form at www.admissions.
umat.edu.gh with a valid mobile number format. Eg 00234 becomes 234
2. You will receive the Serial Number and Personal Identification Number to access
the online admission system via text message and email.
3. Complete the online registration process.
4. Print the completed form and add photocopies of relevant certificates including the
original copy of the Bank Pay-in-Slip.
5. Send all documents to the address below.

CLOSING DATE FOR UMAT POSTGRADUATE ADMISSIONS

The closing date for submission of completed application documents is 15th May,
2023 for the July, 2023 Admission. Applications submitted after 15th May would be
considered for January, 2024 Admission
