CARISCA-KNUST Postgraduate Scholarship 2021/2022

The Centre for Applied Research and Innovation in Supply Chain – Africa (CARISCA) is a partnership between the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and Arizona State University (ASU) with support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

CARISCA invites eligible candidates in Ghana and other African countries to apply for scholarship awards to study postgraduate programmes (MSc, and MPhil) in Supply Chain Management at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology School of Business.

CARISCA’s vision is to create a center of excellence at KNUST that can transform supply chain networks to improve the quality of life of people in Ghana and across Africa.

These scholarships are part of CARISCA’s plan to increase access to Ghana’s higher education system, so new ideas and perspectives that can fuel future supply chain management innovation and practice.

These scholarships are an incredible opportunity to study supply chain management at the graduate level with elite scholars at KNUST and from around the world.

Contents

Categories of Scholarship Awards Available

The scholarships to be awarded by CARISCA are categorised into full, partial and fee waiver scholarship awards. The category of scholarship awards to be given to an applicant will be dependent upon the economic needs of an applicant as determined by the scholarship award committee.

Full Scholarship Awards

This will cover:

  1. Tuition fees and other charges waiver;
  2. Monthly stipend;
  3. Hostel accommodation; and
  4. Research grants (e.g., fieldwork, data analysis, etc.)

The following two items apply to international (African) students only:

  1. One round-trip flight ticket; and
  2. International travel insurance cover.

Partial Scholarship Awards

This will cover:

  1. Tuition fees and other charges waiver;
  2. Hostel accommodation; and
  3. Research grants (e.g., fieldwork, data analysis, etc.)

 The following two items apply to international (African) students only:

  1. One round-trip flight ticket; and
  2. International travel insurance cover.

Tuition Waiver Scholarship Award

This will cover:

  1. Tuition fees and other charges waiver; and
  2. Research grants (e.g., fieldwork, data analysis, etc.)

Requirements for award of scholarships

In conformity with the entry requirements at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, successful candidates must be in possession of the following qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree with first-class or second class (upper division) honours (please submit copies of your certificates and academic transcripts as evidence).
  2. For applicants whose bachelor’s degree is not provided in English, possession of an internationally recognised Certificate of Proficiency in the English Language (e.g., TOEFL or IELTS) with an above-average score is required.

Additional requirements

All successful applicants will be required to:

  1. Demonstrate economic need for which reason they should be supported financially to enroll on the supply chain management program at KNUST.
  2. Required to hold citizenship of Ghana or another African country. Non-Ghanaian African applicants must demonstrate possession of a student visa to legally study at KNUST.
  3. Show evidence of admission to either the M.Sc or MPhil degree programmes in supply chain management at KNUST.
  4. Complete and submit the CARISCA Scholarship Application form.
  5. Commit to full-time availability for the entire period of study.

  3. Two reference letters
  4. Proof of English proficiency (if previous studies are not in English)
  5. Official transcripts for bachelor’s degrees
  6. Certified copies of official bachelor certificates
  7. Two recent passport-sized photographs
  8. Evidence of current and previous employment (if applicable)
  9. Submit both soft and hard copies of a letter of motivation (max. one page) with the heading “CARISCA Master’s Scholarship Award” outlining the following:
  • Why you want to study Supply Chain Management at the master’s level
  • Why you are well-suited to study this programme
  • Why you need financial support to be able to successfully complete the master’s programme
  • How your admission into the Supply Chain Management department will fit into your professional vision
  • How your home country stands to benefit after your training
  • You may also add other relevant information and/or experience you feel are necessary to support your application

  • Application deadline is 5.00 pm Monday, November 8th, 2021.
  • Kindly upload your supporting documents in a single zip file. Supporting documents in French (or any other language) must have an official English translation in addition
  • Ineligible, incomplete or late applications will not be processed.
  • Only shortlisted applicants will be invited to an interview scheduled for November 15th, 2021.
