Before one can get entry into the United Kingdom, you will need a visa. Also, before a visa is granted, there are some requirements to be met.  We are going to simplify the UK visa requirements procedure for Ghanaians on this page.

Before applying for the United Kingdom visa, you must have an intent or let’s say a valid reason why you want to visit the United Kingdom. There are several types of visa which are granted to citizens of different countries based on the purpose of visit. Some of them include;

Every visitor or intending visitor to the United Kingdom must meet some minimum requirements before being granted a visa;

• Period of the visit should not be more than six months.
• Proves that you won’t stay more than your visa stipulated time in the UK.

Cost of UK Visa

The UK visa application fee depends on the kind of visa and the length of its validity (UK Visa Application Fees). You can only pay for UK visa at Guaranty Trust Bank’s three branches namely:

• Ridge, Head Office 25A, Castle Road, Ambassadorial Area, Ridge, PMB CT416
• Cantonments. Accra. Labone 3rd Soula Street, adjacent to South African High Commission
• Osu Plot No. 577, Oxford Street, Osu R. E

Keep the receipt safe as it will be required when you visit the application centre. Send your application within 30 days or one month of paying the fees. Application fee can also be paid at the application centre, however, with an additional processing fee.

How to Apply for a UK Visa From Ghana

Download the UK visa application form on the Visa4UK website: https://visa4uk.fco.gov.uk/

Fill and submit the application form and submit alongside with it the original copies of the following documents;

A passport with a blank leaf on both sides where the visa is usually inserted, a quality photo that meets the standards of the HM Passport Office, previous travel documents (if any), documents of your marital status, current employment or student document, health certificates and evidence that you are a citizen of Ghana.

Attach these supporting documents along with your application form and mail them to the High Commission (British  High Commission in Ghana). Book your appointment within 90 days of submitting the online form. You can book for the interview on the Visa4UK website: https://visa4uk.fco.gov.uk/

You Biometric information would be collected during the interviewing process: it means that fingerprints would be scanned and your face photographed. In case you have broken or injured fingers, you must wait until they heal before the details can be taken. Temporary decorations that change facial appearance and block prints are discouraged as they would delay your application processing.

A proof of vaccination from diseases such as Hepatitis B and TB will also be needed.
