Job Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for the implementation of financial procedures and the finances of the country office. S/He will be responsible for preparing financial reports for local management, preparing the payroll and maintaining accounts payables within the constraints of relevant laws, regulations and organisational policies.
• To manage all aspects related to finance management, providing high quality leadership and managerial oversight of financial department
• Participate in financial planning; support the programmes team in preparation of proposals and operational budgets
• Support the Programme Coordinator with adequate communication of plans to programme staff, partners, and the UK office.
• Ensure staff are aware of the financial accountabilities; communicate on financial expectations and provide constructive feedback on forecasts and expenditure
• Stay up to date on the latest developments in tax and other applicable laws in the country; ensuring all Government statutory regulations including payment of taxes and social security fund deductions to the relevant authorities are submitted timely
• Coordinate and support external audits and any possible internal and donor audits
• Prepare monthly/quarterly financial reports and analysis; ensure respective budget holders understand the variance implications and how to respond to and manage them effectively.
• Train team on financial policies and procedures and ensure compliance with those policies by all programme team members
• Monitor the payment of salaries and allowances of programme team members; ensure the timely payment of taxes, insurance and benefits, and ensures the maintenance of payroll records.
• Monitor petty cash accounts including the spot checking of balances and payments.
Qualification Required & Experience
• 7 years’ experience in a similar role, working with in international charity or similar organisations
• Excellent command on MS Office Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Experience managing a direct report(s)
• Experience in budgetary management, forecasting and financial control
• Detail oriented person with the drive for quality work
• A naturally proactive person who will critically assess their own performance
• Tolerant and determined team player with good communication skills
• Fluent in written and spoken English
