Volta River Authority (VRA) Awards Scholarships to 50 Students

The Volta River Authority (VRA) has awarded scholarships to 50 students under its Community Development Programme.

The beneficiaries are from various tertiary institutions across the country, 15 level 300 students, 15 level 200 students and 20 level 100 students.

The scholarship awarded on Thursday, May 2, was to the tune of GH¢745,000.00 covering payment of tuition and hostel fees.

Chairperson at the event, Paramount Chief of Akwamu Traditional Area, Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III, congratulated the lucky participants stating “to receive this scholarship means that you have demonstrated the rigorous academic discipline required for consideration.”

He urged those who were not lucky to get the scholarship to not give up.

“Your perseverance will make the difference between success and a life of mediocrity,” he added.

Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III commended the Volta River Authority for its ongoing commitment to developing the potential of young people in the country.

“In the current global economic climate, I am even more convinced that improving education is the foundation for building the human capital on which our nation’s sustainable development is to be built,” he said.

He added the country has come to a spot where it is important to boost the skills of students through the provision of quality and all-around relevant education.

Also present at the event was Deputy Minister for Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, Chief Executive of VRA, Emmanuel Antwi-Darkwa, Board Member VRA, Dr. Joyce Rosalinda Aryee and former Board member of VRA, Togbe Gbordzor III.
