A. VACANCY FOR SENIOR STAFF (ADMINISTRATIVE) POSITIONS

Applications are being invited from suitably qualified individuals for the following position in the University of Health and Allied Sciences Basic School.

Position 1: Deputy Head Teacher (Primary School)

Reporting to: Board of Basic School

Qualifications

The successful applicant must:

  1. Be of the rank of Principal Superintendent/Assistant Director II or eligible for appointment as such. Alternatively the applicant should have a minimum of 6 years’ experience in managing a reputable private basic school.
  2. Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Education awarded by a recognised university with not less than 7 years post qualification experience.
  3. In addition, the candidate may have Teacher’s Cert. “A” or a tertiary diploma awarded by a recognised institution.
  4. Demonstrate high-level of competency in leadership and administrative skills.
  5. Be computer literate.

Duties

The successful candidate shall:

  1. Assist the Head of the Basic School in the day to day administration of the Primary School.
  2. Assist the Head to achieve set objectives of the School.
  3. Be responsible for supervising both staff and students in the Primary School.
  4. Assist the Head in enforcing school disciplinary, codes of ethics, and preventing potential safety violations.
  5. Develop extra curriculum activities needed for students to succeed in the classroom.
  6. Provide counselling to both teachers and students on behaviour that may be disruptive.
  7. Ensure proper maintenance of equipment and facilities.
  8. Ensure teachers’ are teaching relevant and appropriate syllabuses.
  9. Perform any other duty assign to him/her by the School Board.

Position 1: Head of Basic School

Reporting to: Board of Basic School

Requirements

As the Head of School, you must demonstrate the commitment to ensuring that our students are confident, inspired and are constantly engaged in meaningful intellectual and community challenges. You will lead the faculty and staff of UHAS Basic School to offer the highest quality education by motivating students to achieve the highest standards of intellectual and personal development through stimulating and comprehensive program at every level. You will be responsible for developing in each of our students a deep love of learning and a sustained desire to pursue personal passions whilst ensuring all students enjoy a diverse range of learning choices in curricular and co-curricular programs aimed at driving them towards achieving their goals in academics, arts, athletics and action in the community.

Qualifications

The successful applicant must:

  1. Be of the rank of at Assistant Director 1 or eligible for appointment as such. Alternatively the applicant should have a minimum of 8 years’ experience in managing a reputable private basic school.
  2. Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Education and Master’s degree in relevant area awarded by a recognised university with not less than 8 years’ teaching experience.
  3. In addition, the candidate should have Teacher’s Cert. “A” or a tertiary diploma awarded by a recognised institution.
  4. Have a deep understanding and appreciation of the strategic and operational issues in educational administration, especially at the basic level.
  5. Demonstrate high-level of competency in leadership and administrative skills.
  6. Be computer literate.

Duties

The successful candidate shall:

  1. Be responsible for the day to day administration of the School.
  2. Meet with the School board and other stakeholders to determine school objectives and ensure that the objectives are achieved.
  3. Be responsible for supervising both staff and students.
  4. Tasked with enforcing school disciplinary roles, codes of ethics, and preventing potential safety violations.
  5. Create the most effective and conducive educational environment for learning.
  6. Develop extra curriculum activities needed for students to succeed in the classroom.
  7. Provide counselling to both teachers and students on behaviour that may be disruptive.
  8. Be responsible for the maintenance of sports equipment and facilities.
  9. Supervise teachers’ syllabuses to make sure that they are teaching relevant and appropriate information.
  10. Perform any other duty assign to him/her by the School Board.

Tenure

The person appointed Head of Basic School shall hold office for a period of four (4) years and is eligible for re-appointment.
