The University of Ghana, UG Legon Fresh International Students Important Information for the 2018/2019 academic year has been released.
The management of the University of Ghana (UG) has released vital information for fresh international students of the University. All newly admitted international students should endeavor to go through the information on this page.

Arrival
All fresh international undergraduate students are expected to arrive between August 22 and September 1, 2018.
Airport pick up service will be provided by the International Programmes Office for international students during the stipulated dates.

The Hostels will only be opened to students from August 22, 2018. Students should, therefore, plan to arrive from this date. Students who arrive after September 1 may flag down an airport cab (taxi) located close to the Arrivals’ Hall, to convey them to their respective destinations.b (Kindly note the cab registration number)
Taxis can be identified by their amber coloured license plate. All admitted students should kindly note that, the taxi fare could be between thirty and fourty Ghana Cedis (GHC30 – GHC40).
Payment of Fees for International Students
Fees must be paid in US dollars. This may be done online, by wire or by direct deposit as outlined below.
Should you choose to make payment by the wire or direct deposit, kindly ensure your name and student ID number are clearly written on the pay-in-slip. Your pay-in-slip will be required for registration.

Accommodation for International Students
Housing will be provided at the International Students’ Hostel (ISH).
Rooms are furnished with beds, desks, chairs and wardrobes. Students are required to provide for themselves linen, pillows and toiletries. These can be bought from on-campus stores.

Orientation
International Programmes Office will organize a mandatory orientation programme for fresh international students daily from August 22 to September 14, 2018 at the Seminar room, Right (Ground Floor, Right Wing) of the International House Located on the Annie Jiagge Road, opposite the School of Law.
The university’s main orientation for all fresh students starts from Wednesday, August 29 to Saturday 1, 2018. Note that is also mandatory for all fresh students.
Registration for International Students
Students are to report for registration at the International Programmes Office from August 22 to September 14, 2018 with the following
➢ Copy of admission letter
➢ Proof of medical insurance
➢ One passport sized photograph
Teaching / Examination
Teaching begins on September 3, 2018. Examinations will start on December 10 and end on December 21, 2018.
Matriculation
Students are expected to attend a mandatory matriculation on September 22, 2018
Welcome Durbar
The office will organize a welcome lunch for all fresh international students on October 13, 2018
Non- Citizen Ghana Card
Please note that all eligible foreign nationals living in Ghana are required by law to register and have a Non-Citizen Card.
The Non-Citizen Card is a national identity card for internationals which costs US$120. It is a legal requirement to have a Residence Permit. Please ensure you get this from the National Identification Authority Offices as soon as you arrive in Ghana. For more information please visit: http://www.fims.org.gh/m/aboutusdoc.
Other Information
Ghana uses the UK’s BS 1363 standard for plugs and sockets. This uses the 3 pin system and has a voltage of 240 volts. Kindly take note of this when bringing any electrical appliances, especially chargers for mobile phones.
