UEW to Graduate Over 16,000 Students at 23rd Congregation

The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) to Graduate Over 16,000 Students at 23rd Congregation.

The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) will from Monday, 19^th November to Saturday, 1^st December, 2018 graduate over 16,000 students at its 23^rd Congregation.

The November Congregation will take place at Winneba, Asante Mampong and Kumasi Campuses of the University.

At Winneba Campus, 1,440 students will be presented on day-one from the Faculty of Science Education and School of Business. Faculty of Educational Studies will present 1,376 on day-two whilst day-three will have 1,734 students from the Faculties of Social Science Education and Ghanaian Languages Education.

The School of Research and Graduate Studies will present six Doctorates; 205 Masters; and 293 Post-Graduate Distance Education students in addition to 956 undergraduates from Faculties of Foreign Languages Education and School of Creative Arts, concluding the Winneba graduation for day-six.

On Tuesday, 27^th November, 2018, Asante Mampong will present 881 graduands from Faculties of Agriculture and Science and Environmental Education.

Elsewhere, Kumasi Campus will present 6,174 of the total graduates for the 23^rd Congregation with 3,276 of Distance Education students from the Northern Sector on days-one and two. Faculties of Technical Education and Business Education will graduate 2,123 undergraduates on day-three. Eventually, on day-four, 231 Masters and six Doctoral students will be presented.

The Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Prof. Anthony Afful-Broni congratulated and entreated the graduands to view their graduation as part of an important life journey; and not a destination. He emphasised that the advice was in line with his strategic vision of continuous improvement and the educationists’ view of 21^st century education as life-long learning.

“Please be crusaders for morality as professional teachers from one of the best teacher institutions in the world, and shine like the bright moonlight in the dark to lead your colleagues and pupils.

“You must continue to develop entrepreneurial minds, be critical with information, be team players, develop emotional intelligence, and positively influence your communities with the knowledge you have acquired here.” The Vice-Chancellor said.

There were five award winners on the first day for the 23^rd Congregation. Mr. Dennis Eyison received the Kofi Bentum Wilson Award for Best Graduating Student in ICT Education, while Mr. Andrews Mannah was honoured with the Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Best First Year Mathemetics Student. Additionally, Mr. Naphali Mensah won the Prof. Anamuah-Mensah’s Award for Best First Year Science Student.

Other awardees were Mr. Evans Otabil and Ms. Saiyida Maryam Siba who received the ICA Ghana Award for Best Male Graduating Student in Accounting and ICA Ghana Award for the Best Female Graduating Student in Accounting respectively.
