The University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD) is a newly-commissioned tertiary institution located at Somanya, Ghana.
We are recruiting to fill the following positions below:
Contents
Job Title: Assistant Accountant/ Junior Assistant Internal Auditors
Qualifications
Applicants for this position shall possess:
1. – A good first degree in Accountancy or Finance equivalent professional qualification and
• Final Examinations Certificate of any of the following Professional Bodies:
Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICA, Ghana)/Chartered Association of Certified Accountants (ACCA) /Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA)
Or
2. – A good first degree in Accountancy or Finance or equivalent professional qualification;
• A relevant MBA in Accounting/Finance or any equivalent qualification.
Job Title: Development & Estate Director
Tenure
• Prospective applicants should be able to serve a term of four (4) years before reaching the mandatory retirement age of 60 years.
• Appointment is renewable subject to satisfactory performance.
Duties/Responsibilities
• He/She shall be responsible for the overall development and maintenance of the physical environment of the University and the provision of essential services efficiently and effectively.
The Development and Estate Director oversees the activities of the following divisions:
• The Physical Development Works and Housing Development
• Office Architecture and Engineering
• Quantity Surveying
• Grounds and Environmental Health
• Services and Operations
Qualifications
• A minimum of Masters’ Degree in the Built Environment or relevant area of study PLUS relevant Professional Qualification.
• Served as Deputy Director of Works and Physical Development in a University or comparable grade in a similar institution/organisation for at least six (6) years.
• Be computer literate
• Have drive, vision and strong resource mobilization skills
• Possess excellent interpersonal skills, good moral conduct and a high sense of honesty and integrity
Job Title: Senior Assistant Development & Estate Manager
Duties/Responsibilities
• The Senior Assistant Development and Estate Officer shall assist the Development and Estate Officer in the overall administration of the Development and Estate Office and function

Qualifications
• Applicant must have a minimum of Masters’ Degree in the Built Environment or relevant areas of study PLUS
Relevant Professional Qualification with at least two (2) years post-qualification experience as Junior
• Assistant Development Officer in tertiary education institution or comparable grade in a similar institution.
Job Title: Director, IT Systems/Operations

Job Specification/Requirement
• The IT Director will be responsible for the management, strategy and execution of IT infrastructure for the University.
Qualifications
• A good first degree and a Masters Degree in Computer Science/Information Systems/Engineering and Business Management or any related field.
• With a minimum of ten (10) years progressive experience in management or executive leadership positions with emphasis on prior experience leading enterprise-wide system implementations and can demonstrate experience in collaborating with institutional stakeholders and public entities.
• An experience in a similar role in a tertiary education setting may be an advantage.
• Professional certification in ITSM, PMP or any IT/IP certification may be an added advantage.
Job Title: IT Manager – IT Services & Academic Support
Duties
• Overseeing technical projects in alignment with organizational goals.
• Directing the effective delivery of networks, development, and disaster recovery systems and processes to enhance the administrative and academic activities of the University.
• The Director will provide vision and leadership for developing and implementing Information Technology (IT) initiatives to enhance teaching, learning and research in the University.
• He/She will also lead in planning and implementing administrative and academic information systems to support and improve cost effectiveness and business development in a constantly changing, competitive educational environment to ensure value for money and return on investment.
• He/She will be advising senior management in any issues concerning IT
Job Specification/Requirement
• The IT Manager for Services reporting to the Director of IT will be responsible for the instructional technology management as well as IT service support for both the faculty and student community.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, information systems, computer science or related field (graduate degree a plus)
• Minimum eight years’ experience working in IT operations
• telecommunications, databases, and storage systems
• Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
• Ability to manage and prioritize tasks and projects
• Solid working knowledge of all relevant coding languages and security protocols
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Team-oriented
• Minimum 10 years’ experience overseeing IT teams and projects
• Certifications and continuing education preferred
Job Title: IT Manager – Networks, Systems & Telecommunications
Qualifications
• Minimum Education – of a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Information Systems or related discipline.
• Having any of the following professional certifications (Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE), and/or Cisco Certified Network Associate or Professional and or Expert (CCNA/P/E) would be an advantage.
Skills Required
At least 5 to 10 years progressive management experience overseeing and leading IT
• Experience in managing an IT networks and Systems within any organisation or an institution of higher learning or in the public or private section.
• Should understand computer systems, networks, security
• Should understand IP Phone deployment and SIP functionality in Telecommunication
• Should have experience in the deployment of IP based PABX
• Should have ability to support IT security deployment for an Institutions network and IT services
• Should have working knowledge of DNS, Active Directory, Virtual Machine configurations and Mail system support.
• Experience in managing external vendor relationships and broad knowledge of trends and future directions of • IT and its application in higher education.
• Excellent understanding of project management principles.
• Ability to communicate concepts ‘and processes clearly and effectively in writing
Job Title: Senior Assistant Procurement Officer
Duties/Responsibilities
The Senior Assistant Procurement Officer shall assist the Procurement Officer in the performance of their duties and in accordance with the relevant laws.
• Maintain and update of a proper database of suppliers, service providers and consultants,
• Prepare procurement plans for goods, works and services for the University,
• Assist in implementing systems and procedures to ensure value for money in the entity procurement activities,
• Assist in the process of advertising tenders and provide input for the formulation of procurement strategy for the University.
Have working knowledge of the relevant laws namely:
• Public Procurement (Amendment) Act, 2016 (Act 914)
• Internal Audit Agency Act, 2003 (Act 658)
• Audit Service Act, 2000 (Act 584)
• Valued Added Tax Act, 2013 (Act 870)

Qualifications
• Applicant must hold a minimum of Masters’ Degree in Procurement Management plus a Professional Qualification in Procurement.
• Applicant must have a minimum of six years post qualification experience in a University or comparable institution/organisation
• Applicant must be computer literate and must be abreast with relevant software applications.
Job Title: Chief Administrative Assistants
Duties
• Staff in this grade will be required to perform work covering a wide field requiring qualities of sound judgement, initiative, resource and precision.
Duties may also include;
• some training and supervision but may generally be of an executive nature, comprising the critical examination of cases either within or outside the scope of approved regulations or general decisions.

Job Title: Principal Administrative Assistants
Duties
• Provides administrative support to an academic teaching and administrative department by providing reception services, scheduling appointments, meetings, and travel, filing, researching files and records, and preparing and proofreading correspondence, reports, and other documents as requested.

Job Title: Administrative Assistants
Job Specification/Requirement
The Administrative Assistant will perform a wide range of administrative and secretarial duties of executive nature which include:

• Execution of specific duties assigned by superiors
Qualifications
• Prospective candidates should meet the following requirements:
• Must hold a Diploma in Public/Business Administration awarded by a recognized tertiary Institution.
Or
• Must hold the HND (Secretarial/ Management option) from a recognized institution, with a minimum of two years working experience
OR
• Must hold ICSA Foundation level
• In all cases, candidates must be computer literate.
• Must be able to type at the rate of 50 words per minute and take shorthand at the rate of 110 words per minute
Job Title: Senior Auditing/Accounting Assistants
Qualifications
• Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Commerce awarded by a recognised university
or
• Must hold an HND (Accounting Option) with 4 years post qualification experience.
or
• Part 2 of CA, CIMA, ACCA plus a year’s relevant working experience.
or
• Hold a Diploma in Business Studies (Accounting option) awarded by a recognised institution with at least 11 years’ working experience.
• In all cases, candidates must be computer literate.
Job Title: Principal Stores Superintendent
Duties:
• Staff in this grade will be required to perform work covering a wide field requiring qualities in different degrees, responsible for the efficient organization and running of the University stores.
• The officer will be specifically responsible for general correspondence of all matters including short landing and insurance claims, expeditious handling of all cases of loss and damage, application and interpretation of stores regulations and instructions.
Qualifications
Prospective candidates should meet the following requirements:
• Must have not less than 5 years’ continuous and satisfactory service as Senior Stores Superintendent and either
II. Must hold a bachelor’s degree in the relevant subject area awarded by a recognized University with at least 4 years’ post-qualification experience.
Or
• Must hold HND (Accounting /Purchasing & Supply) with 8 years’ relevant experience.
• Must hold 75% completion of CA/CIMA/ACCA/CIPS.
In all cases, candidates must be computer literate.
Job Title: Clerk Of Works
Duties
• Supervision of all building contracts and works in the University;
• Ensuring compliance with drawings and specifications and the use of approved quality materials.
• He/She will also ensure that directions by Engineers and Architects are carried out by Contractors.
Qualifications
• Must have had a minimum of 7 years’ working experience in the grade of Principal Assistant Clerk of Works, and
• Must be Holders of either
• A Bachelor’s degree in the relevant subject area with at least 10 years’ post-qualification experience in the University or similar institution
or
• HND/Diploma in the relevant subject area from a recognized institution with at least 14 years’ post-qualification experience.
In either case, the candidate must be computer literate
Job Title: Senior Draughtsman
Duties
• Tracing of all sorts of drawings against freehand or other sketches prepared by the Architect and doing drawings on his own under guidance, and supervision of the Architect.
• Taking care of drawing papers, tracing cloth and other drawing materials.
• Training and supervision of the work of subordinate staff.
Qualifications
• Must be confirmed officers with not less than 4 years’ continuous and satisfactory service as Draughtsman in the University
• Must possess a certificate in Draughtmanship awarded by ITE, KNUST or Weija
• Must be computer literate.
• Experience in any CAD software will be an advantage.
Job Title: IT Senior Staff Support (Web & Software Development)
Qualifications
Applicants must meet the criteria below:
• Minimum Education –of the First degree in Computer Science, Information
• Technology, Engineering, Information Systems, or related discipline with five years’ experience in the IT field.
• Having any of’ the following professional certifications (Microsoft Certified System Engineer ‘(MCSE), Unix and internet administration and/or VM Certified Professional, Professional certification in ITSM or PMP would be an advantage
• The person should have Web Development skills as well as user support credentials.
• At least 5 to 10 years of progressive experience overseeing to web and software development user support in any IT industry is required.
• Experience in managing IT networks and Systems within any organisation or an institution of higher learning or in the public or private section
• Having any Computer Hardware support skills would be an advantage.
Job Title: Senior Accounting Assistants
Job Specification/Requirement
• Staff in this grade will be required to perform work that calls for sound and mature judgement, initiative and discretion.
• The officer should be capable of preparing statements of accounts, check and verify current accounts, reconcile Bank Statements and attend to relevant correspondence.
• Staff in this grade will be required to perform work that calls for sound and mature judgement, initiative and precision
Qualifications

• Must hold a Degree in Accounting or Commerce awarded by a recognized University and have not less than 4 years’ working experience

Job Title: Senior Security Officer
Qualifications
Prospective applicants must satisfy the criteria below:
• Must be an officer with not less than 4 years’ experience as a Security Officer with a clean employment record and
• Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree (preferably Psychology/Sociology). Previous relevant working experience will be an advantage.
OR
• Must have attained the rank of Assistant Superintendent in the Ghana Police Service or equivalent rank in the Armed Forces (Lieutenant) with a clean employment record. OR
• Must be a confirmed officer with recognized security organizations with not less than 14 years’ experience.
• Must Submit a Police Report.
Job Title: Senior Transport Officer
Job Specification/Requirement
• General assistant to the Transport Officer. Responsible for repairs, maintenance and smooth running of the University’s fleet of vehicles.
Qualifications
• A Bachelor’s degree awarded by recognized University preferably in Mechanical Engineering
Or
• The Motor Vehicles Technicians Certificate of the City and Guilds of London Institute.
Or
• A Diploma in Transport Management (DTM)
• An HND in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution with 4 years’ relevant experience.
• In all cases, considerable practical experience in a position of responsibility within a large transport organization will be an advantage.

Job Title: Senior Nursing Assistant
Job Specification/Requirement
• Responsibility for the good conduct, efficiency and discipline of the nursing and domestic staff in the clinic

Duties/Responsibilities

• Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the appropriate authority.
Qualifications
• Must hold a Bachelor in Nursing/Midwifery/Diploma of Nursing from a recognised and accredited institution/State Registered Nurse (SRN) with the Nurses and Midwifery Council;
• Must have served as Senior Nursing Officer in a University or comparable grade in a similar institution/organisation for at least five (5) years, and
• Must have a valid practicing license by the Nurses and Midwives Council, Ghana
Job Title: Chief Technician
Duties:
The duties of the Chief Technicians cover a wide field requiring high qualities of sound judgement, initiative and precision. The officer will be required to organize and direct the work of all other Technical Staff under him. This will include general supervision and training of all laboratory and subordinate staff in the Department
Qualifications
Applicants must:
• Possess a bachelor’s degree awarded by a recognized university in the appropriate subject with at least 9 years’ post-qualification experience in a university or similar institution.

• Possess an HND with at least 14 years’ relevant working experience
Or
• Must hold the Part III of the Science Laboratory Technician Certificate of the City & Guilds of London Institute with at least 4 years’ post-qualification experience
