The Senior High School (SHS) 1, 2 and 3 re-opening and vacation date earlier for the 2025/2026 academic year has been announced.
Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES), wishes to inform staff, parents, students, and the general public that SHS academic calendar for the 2025/2026 academic year has been released.
SHS Re-Opening and Vacation Date 2025/2026
Below is the breakdown of the reopening date for Form 3, 2, and 1 students in Senior High Schools (SHSs).
Form 3 (Final Year Students)
- First Term: 27th October 2025 – 13th February 2026 (14 weeks)
- Break: 20th December 2025 – 4th January 2026
- Second Term: 14th February – 21st June 2026 (18 weeks)
- Easter Break: 1st April – 8th April 2026
- WASSCE Period: 20th April – 20th June 2026
This schedule gives final-year students ample time for preparation and revision before sitting for WASSCE.
Form 2
- First Term: 5th January – 17th April 2026 (15 weeks)
- Includes 5 weeks online/external learning from 16th March – 17th April 2026
- Vacation: 18th April – 17th May 2026
- Second Term: 18th May – 4th September 2026 (16 weeks)
This group enjoys a mid-term break that allows them to continue learning remotely before resuming onsite classes.
Form 1 (New Students)
- First Term: 18th October 2025 – 30th January 2026 (13 weeks: 9 weeks onsite + 4 weeks online)
- Christmas Break: 20th December 2025 – 4th January 2026
- Break: 31st January – 15th March 2026
- Second Term: 16th March – 12th June 2026 (13 weeks: 9 weeks onsite + 4 weeks online)
- Break: 13th June – 2nd July 2026
- Third Term: 3rd July – 4th September 2026 (9 weeks)
This structured timetable helps first-year students smoothly integrate into the double-track system while balancing onsite and online learning.

how does the double track system work for borders, because I’m been told that if the first batch people send their staffs like trunk,chop box and others to school, they will have to bring them back home when they have vacated for the second batch people to also send theirs .When they resume school they send them back like that for three years .How true is that?
