Job Title: Communications Officer

Reporting to: Programs Manager, Executive Director

Assignment: The Communications Officer would oversee the organization’s communications programs, prepare media briefings and engagements, be responsible for the organization’s communication with different target audiences, prepare fliers/poster/banners handle social media social media platforms and liaise with the media- print, electronic and online.

Would produce at least quarterly a newsletter, maintain and update the SCEF database of partners, donors, and volunteers with all old and new contacts to ensure distribution to all connected and potential organizational partners.

He or She will be in charge of organizing and taking the organization’s photographs and videos at any time and ensuring their timely and adequate follow up. He or She will oversee the type of photos to be taken, events/beneficiaries stories to be collected, and create the most ideal structure for utilizing the various photos to assist with the promotion of SCEF and our sponsors throughout the year including email-ready donor specific event reports and accompanying photos.

S/he will also liaise with the website developer to ensure the website is running smoothly and is up to date with happenings at SCEF.

The Communications Officer has to be self-motivated, innovative, guiding, creative, organized and able to work in a global team.

Responsibilities:

  • To implement SCEF’s communication strategy, including the proposal of revisions;
  • To report on the progress of the communication work plan including the coordination of the delivery of its outputs;
  • To strengthen SCEF’s branding in a consistent way aligned to a global organization.
  • To organize related communication actions and events;
  • To oversee internal and external communication and media work of SCEF to reach out more effectively to SCEF target audiences;
  • To develop communication messages relevant to SCEF’s work, godparents, regular donors, and fans;
  • To develop media communication, including drafting press briefings, and press releases, their distribution to the target groups and monitor the preparation of press clippings;
  • Handle communication with individual donors and other personalized communication, as far as development of beneficiaries are concerned.
  • Act as a secretary at staff and team meetings, as well as other crucial stakeholder and staff/volunteer meetings.
  • The Communications Officer will, at all times, act with professionalism in all activities and will maintain the confidentiality of the privileged management and donor information.
  • He or She will readily accept new assignments consistent with the mission of SCEF, will remain flexible and understand that this position is a constantly evolving one that necessitates the taking on of new roles as the position develops.
  • To keep abreast of the current development issues and communications trends.
  • To work cooperatively and supportively with the SCEF International team and other SCEF entities.
  • To ensure that all activities undertaken on behalf of SCEF, externally or internally, are executed in accordance with the overall aims of the organization and in line with SCEF’s policies and procedures.
  • To participate in training and other activities as requested by the organization.
