Public Basic School Pupils of the West Akim Municipality have been charged GH¢50 each in order to benefit from a two -day workshop organized by the Education Directorate of the Municipality.
A document reaching EducationGhana.net indicates, that all Lower Primary Schools in the Municipality are expected to pay GH¢ 50.00 while all Teachers are also being charged to pay GH¢ 10.00 each to attend two (2) days workshop.
Meanwhile, this did not go down well with some teachers in the Municipality.
Some of the aggrieved Teachers claimed the Municipal Education Service Directorate was using the workshop to create avenue for corruption, loot and share.
The Education Directorate has also ordered all Participants to come along with materials for the workshop, notable materials include:
Manila cards – 4
A pair of scissors
Empty cartoons (boxes).
The Teachers are appealing to the Eastern regional Education Service and the Education Minister to investigate the West Akim Municipal Education Service (Asamankese) in receiving that amount.
