Main Function
• The Lecturer / Research Fellow’s general functions would be to teach, conduct basic and applied research, supervise student dissertations, academic assessment and academic administration
Qualification Required & Experience
• The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of a PhD degree in political science, international qualification.
• At least 5 years of relevant work experience with sound teaching, research and publication records
• Must have a minimum of 5 peer-reviewed publications with computer literacy and demonstrable knowledge of research-related software packages
Key Tasks
Key tasks are as Follows
• Teach at least 3 of the College’s courses
• Design and develop the college’s core training and academic courses
• Demonstrate competence in the area of expertise in the classroom and public presentations, including seminars and conferences
• Supervise students in class daily and mark students assignments, term papers and dissertations
• Demonstrate competence in the development and use of innovative methods of teaching, guidance and mentorship to students
• Participate in curriculum development that leads to the development of new courses or programmes or training manuals
• Play an active role in any other relevant area of work undertaken by the college
• Must actively undertake research and publish at least one article per year
• Generate at least three knowledge products annually in the form of journal articles, book chapters, occasional papers or books and
• Develop proposals for major research projects that contribute to the generation of new knowledge, theory or concepts and produce high quality research outputs that have policy relevance
