LSE & UCT Double Degree Masters Scholarships 2021/2022 for African Students

Applications are open for African students for the Double Degree Masters Scholarships 2021/2022 to study at the London School of Economics (LSE), UK and the University of Cape Town, South Africa.

Few LSE Master’s Awards (LMA’s) are earmarked for African offer holders on the MSc double degree in Global Media and Communications (LSE and University of Cape Town).

LSE & UCT Double Degree Masters Scholarships

The MSc Double degree in Global Media and Communications is a unique programme and offers the opportunity to study and gather experience in two cities (London and Los Angeles, Shanghai or Cape Town) with close connections and ties to global media industries.

Successful students will attend 2 top ranking educational institutions, the London School of Economics (LSE) in London in your first year, and the  University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles, Fudan University in Shanghai or the University of Cape Town (UCT) in South Africa. In our ever increasing globalised world, international experience gained on one of our Global programmes is invaluable and gives students a great knowledge and experience base to work from.

LSE & UCT Double Degree Masters Scholarships Eligibility

  • Upper second class honours (2:1) degree or equivalent in social science, or a degree in another field with professional experience in media and communications.
  • You only need to apply to LSE but you must meet both the LSE and UCT entry requirements. 
  • Competition for places at the School is high. This means that even if you meet our minimum entry requirement, this does not guarantee you an offer of admission.

Value and Duration of Scholarship:

  • This programme is eligible for needs-based awards from LSE, including the Graduate Support Scheme, Master’s Awards, and Anniversary Scholarships.
  • In addition to our needs-based awards, LSE also makes available scholarships for students from specific regions of the world and awards for students studying specific subject areas. In addition, a number of other internal and external funding opportunities for African students are listed here and here. Please note that further announcements on financial support may be made, including regarding students’ second year in Cape Town.

  • Selection for any funding opportunity is based on receipt of an application for a place – including all ancillary documents, before the funding deadline.

How to Apply for LSE & UCT Double Degree Masters Scholarships

You must have completed the LSE Graduate Financial Support Application form AND received an offer of admission (conditional or unconditional) by 5pm GMT on 29 April 2021. Therefore applicants are advised to apply as early as possible.
