KNUST Basic Schools Emerge Overall Winners At UBaSSA Games

The University Basic School Sports Association (UBaSSA) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has placed first at the just ended ‘Inter University Basic Schools Sports Competition. The competition, which took place at the University of Ghana, saw the participation of four (4) University Basic Schools, which KNUST emerged winners with five (5) awarded trophies and a cheque of GH₵2,000.

UBaSSA KNUST led by the Heads of the University Basic School and Board Chairperson, together with some teachers visited the Office of the Pro-Vice Chancellor to show her their successes.

Reverend Mrs. Irene Owusuaa Nkansah, Head of Basic Schools, said at the end of the athletics competition; KNUST Primary School won 11 Gold, 5 Silver and 4 Bronze medals with Junior High School being awarded 10 Gold, 7 Silver and 1 Bronze medals. Both Primary and Junior High School sections were adjudged second in the Soccer competition.

Professor Mrs. Rita Akosua Dickson, the Pro-Vice Chancellor said KNUST looks forward to celebrating more successes. She urged the students to extend that same level of energy in sports to their studies. ‘There is nothing that you cannot achieve in this world if you set your heart out to do it’, she advised. She congratulated the students and instructors for their success.
