GES Ghana Learning Radio Program (Timetable & Stations)

The Ghana Education Service (GES) Ghana learning radion program timetable and stations for B1, B2 and B3 pupils is out. According to the Ghana Education Service (GES), the Ghana Learning program will commence from June 15, 2020.

The Education Service explained that the soon to begin radio learning programme is targeted to reach wider students who are currently at home as a school break to teach them reading and writing skills.

It added that the radio programme dubbed “Ghana Learning Radio Reading Programme” will be aired nationwide on the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) radio channels for the benefit of students, particularly in the remote areas.

The Ghana Education Service, Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) and the and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) have partnered to assist students who are unable to benefit from the Television section of the Learning programme.

The programme which is expected to cover pupils in Basic 1 to Basic 3 includes storytelling, games, and other interesting activities to help children improve their reading, writing, and imaginative skills.

The Ghana Education Service said it’s planning two sessions of reading for Basic 1 to Basic 3 from 10:30 am to 11:30 am on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays with a repeat on Tuesday, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

Dr. Kwabena Bempa Tandoh, Deputy General of the Ghana Education Service in an interview monitored by Georgeweb.org said the Service is in consultation with various Radio stations to air educational content for the benefit of students, particularly in the remote areas.

He said the radio form of learning is set to commence when the third term academic semester begins on Tuesday, May 5, 2020.

The Deputy Director-General said the re-opening date for schools is not yet known, however, on May 5, 2020, educational contents would be made available on the internet, radio, and television for KG, Primary and JHS students to begin the third term semester whiles they learn at home.

He further disclosed that the Ghana Learning TV has now been featured on StarTimes, GOTv on Channel #150, and on DSTv on Channel # 315, students with these digital boxes can rescan to get the new channels.
