The Ghana Institute of Journalism massive recruitment 2019 for lecturing and non-lecturing positions is ongoing.
The Ghana Institute of Journalism invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the following management, academic (multiple) and administrative positions:

1. DEPUTY RECTOR
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE
a) Must hold at a post-graduate degree in communication-related field and a PhD in an
appropriate field (A professorial rank would be an advantage).
b) Must have at least five (5) years of experience at a senior level in effective academic
management, leadership and teamwork in higher education.
c) Must be able to serve a full four (4) year-term of office before attaining the age of
sixty (60)
d) Eligible applicants must demonstrate:
- Understanding of best national and international higher education practice,
particularly in the areas of teaching, research and research funding. - Evidence of experience and success in securing grants/funding.
- Capacity to lead with a clear vision, communicate the Institute’s mission and
current objectives and inspire trust through an open and consultative style. - Capacity to lead a sizable group of academics and professionals to strive for
excellence. - Considerable experience in academic programme development and review, as
well as quality assurance in teaching and learning. - Vision and commitment in promoting a student-centred undergraduate
experience, graduate education, training and excellence in research. - Excellent communication, interpersonal and people management skills.
- Energy, persistence and enthusiasm for initiating and starting new plans, as well
as keeping them going. - Ability to use new technologies to enhance the quality of the processes in higher
education. - Higher level strategic planning and development skills.
2. PROFESSORS/ASSOCIATE PROFESSORS/ SENIOR LECTURERS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:
a) Must possess a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD/DPhil) in Communication or a closely
related academic area.
b) Have considerable teaching experience in a reputable tertiary institution.
c) Have a strong research background.
d) Have carried out research and published articles in the relevant area in peer-reviewed
journals.
3. LECTURERS/ASSISTANT LECTURERS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:
a) Must possess a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD/DPhil) in Communication or a closely related
academic area.
b) Must possess a Master of Philosophy, in the case of Assistant Lecturer
c) Have some professional experience in the specific area.
d) Demonstrate interest in research and publishing.
Note: In all academic positions, preference will be given to applicants with additional
qualifications and proven interests in the following allied specialized areas:
Finance, Sports, Entertainment/Showbiz, Gender, Oil & Gas/Energy, Marketing,
Advertising, Business Management, Health, Environment, Population, Politics,
Linguistics, Local Languages, English, Sociology, Psychology, Cultural Studies
4. DEPUTY REGISTRAR (ACADEMIC AFFAIRS)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:
a) Must hold at least a master’s degree from a recognized tertiary institution.
b) Must have at least seven (7) years relevant post qualification experience in a similar position in a higher educational institution. Senior Assistant Registrars with appreciable experience in the provision of academic and administrative support services in a higher educational institution are eligible to apply.
c) Must have strong administrative and managerial competence.
d) Must have excellent organizational and time management skills.
e) Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
f) Must have high sense of integrity.
g) Must be able to handle multiple duties and produce results.
h) Must have very good computer skills.
5. DIRECTOR (QUALITY ASSURANCE)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Must hold a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD/DPhil) in a relevant academic area from a
recognized tertiary institution. - Must have at least five (5) years relevant post qualification experience in a similar position in a higher educational institution.
- Must have strong administrative and managerial competence.
- Must have excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must have high sense of integrity.
- Must be able to handle multiple duties and produce results.
- Must have very good computer skills
6. DIRECTOR, IT SEERVICES
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Must hold at least a master’s degree from a recognized tertiary institution.
- Must have at least seven (7) years relevant post qualification experience in a similar position in a public or private institution of comparable size/stature.
- Must have strong administrative and managerial competence.
- Must have excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must have high sense of integrity.
- Must be able to handle multiple duties and produce results.
- Must have very good computer skills.
ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF (REGISTRY)
7. ASSISTANT REGISTRAR (HUMAN RESOURCE)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:
a) Must hold at least a master’s degree in any of the areas listed above from a recognized tertiary institution.
b) Must have at least four (4) years relevant experience.
c) Must have strong administrative and managerial competence.
d) Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION:
a) Must hold at least a master’s degree in the appropriate disciplines from a recognized tertiary institution.
b) Must have at least four (4) years relevant experience.
c) Must have strong administrative and managerial competence.
d) Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
