AngloGold Ashanti is a global gold mining company with mines and exploration projects in four different regions namely – Continental Africa, Americas, Australasia and South Africa. The underground mining operation will be fully mechanized, designed to produce up to an average maximum of 5,000 t/day of ore mined.

Role Accountabilities

• Carry out over-inspection of daily mechanical jobs (day or night shift) and PMs carried out during the shift
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, materials, designs which lead to reduced cost of quality and improve productivity
• Produce daily shift report at the close of shift
• Assists production in resolution of quality, productivity, timeliness and cost problems, supplying technical information and assistance where needed
• Ensure weekly BPF work completion rate of 90%
• Conducts root cause analyses and implements corrective actions in response to processing department feedback
• Produce weekly inspection (Risk / Opportunities) reports and action plans to correct deviations
• Produce the required hazards identification reports per week
• Update the availability of spare and any shortage identified
• Ensure that all mechanical relevant statutory and standards are adhered to
• Manage all the mechanical activities at the plant on shift bases to achieve the equipment availability/reliability objectives
• Review, recognise and recommend rewards for the performance of subordinate

Qualifications

• BSc Mechanical Engineering with minimum of 5 years work experience or HND Mechanical Engineering with minimum of 8 years work experience in mining processes
• Competent to handle multiple tasks to achieve the required result
• Effective supervision, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to demonstrating work behavious consistent with the company values and work within prescribed boundaries, including required behaviours, company policies, standards, procedures and legislation requirements
• Ability to influence colleagues to achieve the goals of the section in accordance with the laid down objectives
• Good knowledge in computer application, especially the use of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
