Walulel Limited Job Vacancies 2017.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of the continent’s most promising urban data analytics firm.

Job Description

Job Title: Geographical Information System Analyst

This role is based in our vibrant but tranquil shared office space. You will be joining the company in a period of growth as we seek to launch the “beta-test” version of the business hence, our need for even more resources to help show the world the fruits of analytical labours. If you consider yourself to be a logical and inquisitive individual with a proven ability to build complex, data-driven, mapping solutions, then this is a great opportunity for you to join our GIS team, or as we like to call them, the GIS Gurus.

In this key role, after an initial acclimatisation period, you’ll have the opportunity to further hone and demonstrate your GIS skills, through collaboration with the Data Science and Web Engineering departments of Waluel. As you will be responsible for managing and optimising Walulel’s geographic database you will need to be fanatical about the detail on everything GIS related from CRS to WMS and everything in-between!

Also, as it’s a start-up you’ll be in a role where your opinion always matters. You’ll also be involved in all aspects of the product development lifecycle. There will also be a certificated training programme to capture your growth journey, and what you do at Walulel will be visible to the world from day one.

Are you the person we’re looking for?
If you think you fit the bill so far then the specific skills we’ll need to see are:

The ability to manage the storage of geodatabases whilst ensuring high standards of associated metadata and attribute information.
Remote sensing capability to extract information from imagery using semi-automated processes including a working knowledge of Sentinel, Landsat, ASTER and MODIS.
The ability to clean and reorder geographic data.
Intricate working knowledge of QGIS and its analytical capability.
The ability to produce web compatible GIS maps, general cartographic output and graphic visualisations.
Competency in writing effective and clear documents to capture methodologies in a logical manner.
The ability to work as a part of a collaborative and focussed team.
A proffesional working of the Microsoft Office suite of applications.

What else would be good?

Ideally, we’re looking for someone with a Bachelor’s Degree and/or Masters level qualification (Masters preferred) in something similar to Geomatics/Geospatial Engineering, Geographical Information Systems, and/or Geophysics. However, don’t let this requirement put you off applying. If you have the requisite knowledge, we’d love to hear from you as the successful candidate will be someone who loves GIS and is willing to contribute fully to a start-up, grow with us, and be a valued
part of the team.
Unlike other companies we work a four-day week (Monday to Thursday), but we pay a full time salary. Now if that isn’t reason enough to apply, we don’t know what is…
Our place of work is in Accra and we are offering 1250 Cedis (net) (rising in line with GBP) pcm & company bonuses. If, however you can convince us you are worth more, we’d be happy to pay you what you’re worth as what we’re really concerned with is bringing the best talent on to our team.
