University of the Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) Post-Doctoral Fellowship
We are seeking to appoint a Post-Doctoral Scientist to contribute to a new project on Plasmodium falciparum gametocyte development in the bone marrow of living malaria-infected individuals and the impact of malaria parasite accumulation on bone marrow function. This exciting project include laboratory and field studies and are based primarily in UHAS, Ho, Ghana, but with the opportunity for experimental work in collaborator’s laboratories at the Istituto Superiore di Sanità , Rome, Italy (Dr. Pietro Alano), and the Molecular Infection Medicine Sweden, Umea, Sweden (Prof. Oliver Billker).
University of the Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) Post-Doctoral Fellowship Eligibility
- Have a PhD in molecular parasitology, molecular and cell biology, immunology or related research experience in these fields and a record of high-quality publications in peer-reviewed journals.
- Be a highly motivated individual interested in pursuing novel malaria research.
- Intend on pursuing a long-term career in malaria research.
- Be a person of integrity, have an eye for detail and possess a valid driving licence
- Have prior post-doctoral experience in immunology, molecular and cell biology, molecular parasitology and/or
- overseas field research.

Value of Award:Â The successful Post-doctoral fellow will be supported with funding from the Royal Society, UK/African Academy of Sciences for 2 years in the first instance with a possibility of an extension based on performance.
Funds will cover:
• A competitive salary
• Research supplies and reagents
• Conference grant
• Other research related cost such as visit to collaborator’s laboratory
Duration of Award:Â Â 2 Years with a possibility of extension.
