UCC to begin New Programs via Distance Education
The University of Cape coast shall begin the introduction of new programs to replace the current programs including the famous Bachelor of Psychology and Foundations of Education Program.
This information was revealed by the head of Academic Affairs of the College of Distance Education, Prof. Paul Dela Ahiatrogah during the 11th National Delegates Congress of the Distance Education Students Association of Ghana, University of Cape Coast.
Prof. Dela Ahiatrogah made this revelation in response to a question being asked by a delegate concerning the difficulty they face using the Bachelor of Psychology and Foundations of Education Certificate to apply for jobs in the Ghana Education Service.
According to the Delegates, the Ghana Education Service does not recognize the Certificate as a Secondary Education Certificate.
Though the Certificate is Secondary related, the students ‘cried’ that the Ghana Education Service was not well informed about the Courses being studied via Distance Education.
GES Rejects Distance Education Certificates
The Ghana Education Service during its 2017Â limited recruitment denied the holders of Distance Education Certificates in some of its Districts, Municipal and Metropolitan Directorates.
This the students referred to very unfortunate and a dent on the very essence of Distance Education.
Prof. Dela Ahiatrogah Explains further
According to the head of Academic Affairs at the College of Distance Education, the University is Considering undertaking the new courses being introduced into the various Colleges of Education for the Four-Year Degree Programs.
These Programs include the Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education, Primary Education, and Junior High School Education.
The Prof. further indicated that the University was planning to add five more courses to the distance Courses to make way for Secondary Education .
In view of these revelations ,Students shall be made to choose their preferences with regards to selection of Courses.
