Tamale Technical University Recruitment 2019 (Teaching & Non-Teaching)

Applications are invited from suitable candidates for appointments into teaching and nonteaching positions in the Tamale Technical University as follows:

A. TEACHING STAFF

I. Categories and Qualifications

  1. Professor/Associate Professor: Applicants must have a terminal degree (PhD) in a relevant subject area and must have also attained the position of a Professor or Associate Professor from a recognized tertiary institution at the time of application
  2. Senior Lecturer: Applicants must have a terminal degree (PhD) in a relevant subject area and must have also attained the position of a Senior Lecturer from a recognized tertiary institution at the time of application.
  3. Lecturer: Applicants must have a terminal degree (PhD) in a relevant subject area. Post qualification experience in a Lecturer’s grade from a recognized tertiary institution will be an added advantage.
  4. Assistant Lecturer: Applicants must have a research masters degree (M.Phil/ 2-year MSc./ 2-year M.Tech.) in a relevant subject area. Post qualification experience in an Assistant Lecturer’s grade from a recognized tertiary institution will be an added advantage.

II. Specific Subject Areas for Teaching Staff

Applicants for the teaching category must tailor their applications to the following specific subject areas:

  1. Industrial Art
  2. Civil Engineering
  3. Chemical Engineering
  4. Electrical and Electronic Engineering
  5. Mechanical Engineering (Welding and Fabrication)

III. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teaching
  • Curriculum development
  • Setting and marking of assignments and examination questions
  • Invigilation of examinations
  • Submitting of marked scripts and results
  • Supervision of students’ project work, dissertation and theses
  • Offering academic counseling to students
  • Industry-related research, innovation and publication
  • Assisting in the administration of the department
  • Supervision of students’ internships and industrial visits
  • Mentoring of junior colleagues
  • Extension work and/or service to the University and the nation
  • Any other related duties assigned by the Vice-Chancellor or his/her representative

B. NON-TEACHING STAFF

I. Category and Qualifications

1. Legal Officer (Senior Assistant Registrar): Applicants must meet the following qualifications:

  • Must have masters degree in law
  • Must be a practicing lawyer for not less than five years
  • Must be computer literate
  • Must have good human relations
  • Must demonstrate evidence of ability to write minutes and reports
II. Duties and Responsibilities
  • Representing the University in court on legal issues
  • Advising Management of the University on all legal related issues
  • Developing and maintaining comprehensive data on all legal cases of the University
  • Helping the Registrar to draft Memorandums of Understandings on partnership agreements between the University and other partner organisations
  • Serving as secretary to Boards and Committees on behalf of the Registrar
  • Organising and facilitating meetings
  • Writing of minutes and reports
  • Performing any other duty as assigned by the Registrar or his/her representative

2. Assistant Development Officer: Applicant must have a minimum of Masters’ Degree in the Built Environment or relevant areas of study PLUS relevant Professional Qualification with at least two (2) years post-qualification experience. Post graduate Diploma in Architectural Engineering will be an added advantage.

III. Duties and Responsibilities

  • The Assistant Development Officer shall assist the Director of Works and Physical Development in the overall administration of the Works and Physical Development Office and functions as provided for in the Technical Universities Act 2016, Act 922 and the Guiding Statutes.
