About This Job

We are looking for a capable, reliable, safety conscious and professional Mine Engineer to provide significant work for the end of year Reserve Reporting process and to administer support in the form of Open Pit mine engineering, financial analysis and strategic fit.

Do you have the skills to provide accurate information in support of the Phase 1 (strategic) planning portion of the business planning process and will you be at ease working across the Africa region to pull sites and projects together into the regional strategic plan?

In This Role You Will:
  • Provide the work for reserve reporting process for the open pit mines in the region as assigned.
  • Provide Open Pit designs and schedules that align with stage gate requirements along with the required documentation. 
  • Participate in the Strategic planning process for the region, focusing on the open pit mines and providing input as requested.
  • Support with the detailed business plan build up.
  • Maintain tools required for strategic planning.
  • Support with the development of new tools as required.
  • Prepare, review and evaluate mine design, mine plans, ore control, project feasibility and productivity studies.
  • Supervise or provide a combination of any or all the following functions:

 

[Pit design and optimization;Ore reserve reporting;Short and long-term production scheduling and budgeting;Design of waste dumps; stockpiles and roads;Analysis of costs and cut-off grades;Production accounting;Administration of truck dispatching systems;Stockpile inventory accounting;Mine equipment studies;Blast pattern design;Cash flow analysis and financial modelling;Reconciliation of block model to actual production;Reconciliation of predicted to actual equipment requirements;Productivity analyses/ improvement studies;Compilation and analysis of technical data;Mentoring and coaching of less experience engineers in all of the above].

Your Training, Skills & Experience Checklist:
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Mine Engineering.
  • Master’s preferred.
  • Knowledge of mine designs and schedules.
  • Between 4 to 7 years of experience in open pit mine planning, optimization, and operations.
  • Exposure to strategic planning preferred, in large and diversified mine sites or operations.
  • Advanced mathematical skills.
  • Advanced communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Relationship management skills.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced planning, organising and prioritising skills.
  • Presentation skills.
