IMPORTANT NOTICE: The Ghana Police Service recruitment for 2025/2026 will commence from November 15 to December 15, 2025.
Below is the Requirement for the following Category of Graduate Professionals:
Ghana Police Service General Requirements
All Applicants shall satisfy these requirements in addition to the specific requirement for a specific category. An Applicant must:
- be a Ghanaian by birth
- be of good character and without criminal record
- not have been dismissed from any public service or any other employment
- be not more than the age stated for a specific category by 1st November, 2025.
- be at least 5 feet 8 inches (173cm) tall for males and 5 feet 4 inches (163cm) for females
- be physically and medically fit by Ghana Police Service standards
- have 5 passess in BECE including English and Mathematics
- be ready to undergo basic Police training and other forms of training
- have completed National Service for graduate applicants
CATEGORIES OF ENTRY
A. GENERAL DUTY RECRUITS
In addition to the general requirements an applicant must;
- Not be less than 18 years of age and not more than 30 years by 1st November 2025.
- Possess a minimum of five (5) passes in SSCE/WASSCE including Mathematics and English.
B. TRADESMEN RECRUITS
In addition to the general requirements an applicant who applies to this category must satisfy the requirements stated under the specific sub-category:
1. MOTOR VEHICLE MECHANICS
In addition to the general requirements, an applicant;
- Must not be more than 35 years by 1st November, 2025 and must possess any of the following:
- GES (COTVET) Certificate I or Certificate II or National Proficiency I or II Certificates in Automobile Engineering
- GES Intermediate Certificate in Vehicle Mechanic
- City and Guilds Certificate in Mechanical Engineering.
- City and Guilds in Intermediate (Internal Combustion Engines and Motor Vehicle)
- NVTI Proficiency Certificate I or Certificate II
2. DRIVERS/RIDERS
In addition to the general requirements, an applicant;
- Must not be more than 35 years by 1st November, 2025
- must possess either five (5) passes in SSCE/WASSCE or
- GES (COTVET) Certificate I or Certificate II or National Proficiency I or II Certificates in any Technical or Vocational Programme or
- GES/NACVET/GSS in any Technical or Vocational Programme and
- must possess Driver’s License B or above which should not be less than two (2) years old.
- Must possess Rider’s License A which should not be less than two (2) years old.
3. ELECTRICIANS
In addition to the general requirements, an applicant;
- Must not be more than 35 years by 1st November, 2025
- Must possess any of the following: GES (COTVET) Certificate I or Certificate II or National Proficiency I or II Certificates in any Technical or Vocational Programme or
- GES Intermediate Certificate in Electrical Installation in any Technical or Vocational Programme or
- City and Guilds Certificate in Electrical Installation in any Technical or Vocational Programme or
- Electrical Engineering Technology Part I (GES) in any Technical or Vocational Programme or
- NVTI Proficiency Certificate I or Certificate II in any Technical or Vocational Programme.
4. PLUMBERS & MASONS
In addition to the general requirements, an applicant;
- Must not be more than 35 years by 1st November, 2025
- Must possess any of the following: GES (COTVET) Certificate I or Certificate II or National Proficiency I or II Certificates in Plumbing and Masonry.
- GES Intermediate Certificate in Plumbing and Masonry in any Technical or Vocational Programme or
- City and Guilds Certificate in Plumbing and Masonry in any Technical or Vocational Programme or
- Plumbing and Masonry Part I (GES) in any Technical or Vocational Programme or
- NVTI Proficiency Certificate I or Certificate II in Plumbing and Masonry.
5. PAINTINGS/SIGN WRITING
In addition to the general requirements, an applicant;
- Must not be more than 35 years by 1st November, 2025
- Must possess any of the following: GES (COTVET) Certificate I or Certificate II or National Proficiency I or II Certificates in Painting/Sign writing.
- GES Intermediate Certificate in Painting/Sign writing in any Technical or Vocational Programme or
- City and Guilds Certificate in Painting/Sign writing in any Technical or Vocational Programme or
- Painting/Sign writing Part I (GES) in any Technical or Vocational Programme or
- NVTI Proficiency Certificate I or Certificate II in Painting/Sign writing.
6. TAILORS/SEAMSTRESS
In addition to the general requirements, an applicant;
- Must not be more than 35 years by 1st November, 2025
- Must possess any of the following: GES (COTVET) Certificate I or Certificate II or National Proficiency I or II Certificates in Tailoring or Diploma/HND in Fashion Design or
- GES Intermediate Certificate in Tailoring in any Technical or Vocational Programme or
- NVTI Proficiency Certificate I or Certificate II in Tailoring in any Technical or Vocational Programme
7. WOOD CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY (CARPENTRY)
In addition to the general requirements, an applicant;
- Must not be more than 35 years by 1st November, 2025
- Must possess any of the following: GES (COTVET) Certificate I or Certificate II or National Proficiency I or II Certificates in Carpentry.
- GES Intermediate Certificate in Wood Construction Technology in any Technical or Vocational Programme or
- City and Guilds Certificate in Carpentry/Joinery in any Technical or Vocational Programme or
- NVTI Proficiency Certificate I or Certificate II in Wood Construction in any Technical or Vocational Programme.
8. WELDER & STEEL BENDER
In addition to the general requirements, an applicant;
- Must not be more than 35 years by 1st November, 2025
- Must possess any of the following: GES (COTVET) Certificate I or Certificate II or National Proficiency I or II Certificates in Welding and Fabrication or
- GES Intermediate Certificate in Welding and Fabrication in any Technical or Vocational Programme or
- NVTI Proficiency Certificate I or Certificate II in Welding and Fabrication in any Technical or Vocational Programme.
9. REFRIGERATION
In addition to the general requirements, an applicant;
- Must not be more than 35 years by 1st November, 2025
- Must possess any of the following: GES (COTVET) Certificate I or Certificate II or National Proficiency I or II Certificates in Refrigeration or
- GES Intermediate Certificate in Refrigeration in any Technical or Vocational Programme or
- NVTI Proficiency Certificate I or Certificate II in Refrigeration in any Technical or Vocational Programme.
10. SPORTSMEN
In addition to the general requirements, an applicant;
- Must not be more than 35 years by 1st November, 2025
- Proven track record in recognzed sports discipline
- Be proficient in any of the following field:
- Boxing
- Football
- Handball
- Basketball
- Hockey
- Tennis
- Table Tennis
- Volleyball
- Athletics (Track and Field)
- Badminton
- Arm Wrestling
- Martial Art
- Meet Ghana Police Service Physical standards
- Pass full medical examination
- Exhibit discipline, good character and team spirit
- Pass sports specific trials during recruitment
- Shortlisted players or professionals will undergo justification in their respective sports disciplines.
- Applicants affiliated with clubs and actively participate in recognized sports association leagues shall have an added advantage during the selection process.
11. BAND
In addition to the general requirements, an applicant;
- Must not be more than 35 years by 1st November, 2025
- Must possess five (5) passes in SSCE/WASSCE
- Must have any of the following:
- Ability to sight-read musical notes.
- Ability to play woodwind or Brass instruments.
- Proficiency in basic music (ABRSM) Theory Grade 4 will be an added advantage.
GRADUATE (GENERAL DUTY)
1. DEGREE HOLDERS
In addition to the general requirements, an applicant;
- Must not be more than 35 years by 1st November, 2025
- Must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree (at least Second Class Lower Division) from any recognised university.
2. HND HOLDERS
In addition to the general requirements, an applicant;
- Must not be more than 35 years by 1st November, 2025
- Must hold HND in any field of study from a recognised Technical University or any Tertiary Institution accredited by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC).
3. DIPLOMA HOLDERS
In addition to the general requirements, an applicant;
- Must not be more than 35 years by 1st November, 2025
- Must hold a Diploma in any field of study from a recognised Technical University or any Tertiary Institution accredited by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC).
4. MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS
A. MEDICAL DOCTORS
In addition to the general requirements, an applicant;
- Must not be more than 35 years by 1st November, 2025
- Must have MB ChB/BDS or its equivalent in addition to a permanent registration with the Ghana Medical and Dental Council
- Must have at least one (1) year post qualification working experience in a recognized health facility.
B. MEDICAL SPECIALIST
In addition to the general requirements, an applicant;
- Must not be more than 40 years by 1st November, 2025.
- Must be a member of the Medical and Dental Council of Ghana.
- Must have MB ChB/BDS or its equivalent from a recognized College; plus a relevant Post Graduate qualification to the level of Membership/Fellowship of the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons (GCPS/WACS/WACP) in addition to at least two (2) years post qualification experience in any of the following professions;
- General Surgeons
- Obstetrics / Gynecologists
- Physician Specialist
- Ophthalmology
- Ear Nose and Throat
- Doctor Anethetist
- Orthopedic Surgeon
- Psychiatrist
- Plastic Surgeon
- Dental Surgeon
- Emergency Physician Specialists
- Radiologist
- Pediatrician
C. PHARMACIST
In addition to the general requirements, an applicant;
- Must not be more than 35 years by 1st November, 2025
- Must possess a minimum of Bachelor of Pharmacy Degree (BPharm) (at least Second class lower division) or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Master in Pharmacy (MPharm) from a university accredited by the Ghana Accredited Board
- Be registered with the Pharmacy Council and the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana with at least one (1) year post National Service working experience as a Pharmacist
- Must be a member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana.
D. NURSING SERVICES
In addition to the general requirements, an applicant;
- Must not be more than 32 years for HND/Certificate holders and 35 years for degree holders by 1st November, 2025.
- Must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
- Must possess at least a Degree, Diploma or Certificate in the relevant area of Nursing listed below;
- ENT Nurses
- Intensive Care Nurses
- Nurse Anesthetists
- Ophthalmic Nurses
- Orthopaedic Nurses
- Psychiatric Nurses
- Public Health Nurses
- Theatre Nurses (Peri-operative)
- Midwives
- Registered General Nurses
- Certificate Nurses
- Community Health Nurses
- Nurse Assistants Clinical
- Nurse Assistants Preventive
- Must have passed the requisite licensure exams.
E. SPECIALIZED NURSING
In addition to the general requirements, an applicant;
- Must not be more than 35 years by 1st November, 2025.
- Must be registered General Nurse
- Must have a minimum of Bachelor Degree in Nursing (at least Second Class Lower Division) from an accredited University and a qualification in any of the specialty listed below with at least two (2) years post-qualification experience:
- Critical Care
- ENT
- Peri-Operative
- Emergency Care
- Pediatrics
- Ophthalmic Nursing
F. MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENTISTS
In addition to the general requirements, an applicant;
- Must not be more than 35 years by 1st November, 2025
- MuST HAVE BSC IN HND/DIPLOMA IN MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENCE.
G. PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT
In addition to the general requirements, an applicant;
- Must not be more than 35 years by 1st November, 2025
- Must have a BSc. Physician Assistantship (at least Second-Class Lower Division) from an accredited University and two (2) years post-qualification experience
- Must have permanently registered with the Ghana Medical and Dental Council.
H. CERTIFIED REGISTERED
In addition to the general requirements, an applicant;
- Must not be more than 35 years by 1st November, 2025
- Must have BSc or Advance Diploma Anesthesia
I. HEALTH INFORMATICS
In addition to the general requirements, an applicant;
- Must not be more than 35 years by 1st November, 2025
- Must have a degree, HND or Diploma in Health Statistics
J. CLINICAL NUTRIRIONIST/DIETICIANS
In addition to the general requirements, an applicant;
- Must not be more than 35 years by 1st November, 2025
- Must have BSc. in Nutrition (at least Second Class Lower Division) from a University accredited by the Ghana Accreditation Board, with at least one (1) year post National Service working experience as a nutritionist in a recognised health facility
K. PHYSIOTHERAPIST
In addition to the general requirements, an applicant;
- Must not be more than 35 years by 1st November, 2025.
- Must have MSc. Physiotherapy from a university accredited by the Ghana Accreditation Board, with at least one (1) year post National Service working experience as a Physiotherapist in a recognised health facility.
L. PUBLIC HEALTH OFFICERS
In addition to the general requirements, an applicant;
- Must not be more than 35 years by 1st November, 2025
- Must have BSc. Environmental Science or BSc. Public Health (Environmental Health or Disease Control Option) (at least Second Class Lower Division) from a University accredited by the Ghana Accreditation Board, with at least one year (1) post National Service working experience as a Public Health Officer in a recognised health facility.
M. BMS / HISTO TECHNOLOGIST
In addition to the general requirements, an applicant;
- Must not be more than 35 years by 1st November, 2025
- Must have BSc in Histopayhology with Histo-Technology background.
N. PHARMACY TECHNOLOGISTS
In addition to the general requirements, an applicant;
- Must not be more than 35 years by 1st November, 2025.
- Must have SSCE/WASSCE together with HND in Pharmacy Technology from a recognized institution plus two (2) years post-qualification experience.
O. SONOGRAPHERS
In addition to the general requirements, an applicant;
- Must not be more than 35 years by 1st November, 2025
- Must have BSc in Sonography
5. RELIGIOUS AFFAIRS
A. ORDAINED MINISTERS OR CHAPLAIN
- Must not be more than 40 years by 1st November, 2025
- Have at least a first degree in Theology.
- Be of good standing in a Christian denomination approved by any of the following bodies; the Ghana Catholic Secretariat, the Christian Council of Ghana, the Pentecostal Council of Ghana or other recognized Christian bodies.
B. IMAM
- Must not be more than 40 years by 1st November, 2025
- Have at least a first degree in Islamic Studies with an excellent knowledge in Arabic.
- Be of good standing in a Muslim denomination approved by any of the following bodies, the office of the National/Regional Chief Imam, the office of the Ameer of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission or other similar nationally recognized Muslim bodies.
