Following the released of the new promotion process by the management of the Ghana Education Service (GES), the aptitude date for GES promotions 2020 has been announced.

GES Promotion Aptitude Test Date
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has set Thursday, 20th February 2020 and Friday, 21st February 2020 to conduct promotion aptitude test for some of its staff. According to GES, the examination when conducted, the results shall be ready by the end of March 2020.
Areas of GES Promotion Aptitude Test
Staff seeking promotion to the ranks of Principal Superintendent, Assistant Director I and II will take test covering the following areas.
a. Knowledge of Ministry of Education and Ghana Education Service
b. School/Classroom Managemen and Theories of Learning
c. Assessment and Evaluation
d. Contemporary Issues/current and general knowledge
Fr applicants for Deputy Director grade, in addition to the above, they will be tested in education Administration and Management. The test will last between 40 minutes- 1 hour (maximum). This is multiple-choice questions.
NOTE: THE AREAS ARE THE SAME AS THE FACE TO FACE INTERVIEW DAYS.
The Ghana Education Service has changed the old order of promotion for its staff.
GES, on Friday, January 10, 2020, has issued a circular signed by Mrs. Adjoa Van Vicker, the Director in charge of Human Resource and Management Division (HRMD) to its staff through regional directors of education with the caption “GES PROMOTION PROCESS REVIEW” outlying the new changes in the GES promotion aptitude test. According to GES, this was done in consultation with all stakeholders including the leadership of all the Labour Unions at the pre tertiary level.
In the said statement, the move has been initiated to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the promotion processes. Also, the process has been reviewed to make it efficient and fair to all staff.
In reference to the circular, the promotion aptitude test would be conducted for staff due promotion for all ranks from Principal Superintendent to Deputy Director, Officers who get promoted to Deputy Directorship shall be expected to attend face-to-face interviews if they desire to become heads of schools or any other positions that may require interviews.
