GES awaits Financial Clearance; Hopeful to post Newly Trained Teachers within October.

The Ghana Education service is yet to receive Financial Clearance from the Finance Ministry in order to post Newly Trained Teachers.

According to a statement issued by the National Secretariat of the Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana, the newly trained teachers’ postings have delayed for the fact that government wants to avoid the system where salary arrears for about six(6) to seven(7) months have to be paid as a result of late processing of IPPD forms and staff identification Numbers.

“By virtue of this, GES is waiting for the Ministry of Finance to give financial clearance for all newly trained teachers who have completed this year before they are posted.” the statement emphasized.

The statement further indicated, that according to the Director General of the Ghana Education Service, the reason for the delay in the postings was to  ensure that, the newly trained teachers receive their salaries within the first three months after postings.

The statement further indicated, that government’s decision to prevent the occurrence of any salary arrears was the reason SSNIT numbers and other details of the newly trained teachers were collected before their final year examinations.

The Director General of GES, has made it clear that, the last year’s system where newly trained teachers who had referrals were posted and treated as pupil teachers until they redeemed themselves is still going to be in full session. He said ” GES is maintaining the last year’s system of postings since it is their responsibility to post newly trained teachers while UCC is in charge of examinations ”
