Job Title: Senior Records Assistant

Duties/Responsibilities

The successful applicant will provide operational support in the management of records for the achievement of the objectives of the Commission

  • Maintains appropriate file titling and index heading for the records of the Commission
  • Keeps accurate records on file movement
  • Collates data for the update of the database of files and file movement
  • Maintains appropriate standards in the registry
  • Dispatches all outgoing mails and receives incoming mails of the Commission
  • Stores and retrieves files of the Commission
  • Facilitates the digitization of records and documentation of the Commission
  • Collects inputs for the preparation of annual and other periodic reports

Qualifications

  • A Higher National Diploma/Diploma from an accredited tertiary institution in Records Management, Information Studies or any related field
  • Must have completed National Service

Competencies

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in relevant computer applications
  • Good quantitative and analytical skills
  • Good report writing and presentation skills
  • Good knowledge in records management

Job Title: Assistant Manager

Duties/Responsibilities

The successful applicant will provide operational support in the production and management of Fish and the Industry for the achievement of the objectives of the Commission

  • Collects and collates data for evidence-based decision making and planning
  • Undertakes surveillance activities for the Commission
  • Undertakes Fisheries Extension Services of the Commission, particularly, pond construction, fish hatchery management, aquaculture production, modern farming methods etc.
  • Supervises the establishment, management and development of aquaculture facilities
  • Control of the Vessel Monitoring System and tracks the activities and the movement of the vessels
  • Inspects relevant documents on licensing and permits
  • Undertakes M&E activities on the field
  • Collects and collate data for the preparation of appropriate plans for the Commission
  • Inspects vessels for licensing and its renewal
  • Supervise data entry activities on fisheries
  • Inspects fisheries facilities and produces appropriate reports
  • Administers drugs and chemicals in the aquaculture establishments
  • Facilitate the enforcement of the Fisheries Laws and Regulations related to the elimination of illegal fishing practices
  • Collects data for the preparation of annual and other periodic reports

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited tertiary institution in Fisheries Science, Biological Science, Natural Resources or any other related field
  • Must have completed National Service

Competencies

  • Good leadership, communication, interpersonal and presentation skills with the ability to manage teams and interact effectively with stakeholders
  • Good knowledge of Fish Health, Post-Harvest, and Extension Services
  • Good knowledge of the fisheries industry
  • Proficiency in relevant IT applications
  • The ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work is an advantage

Job Title: Senior Assistant

Job Title: Assistant Administrative Manager

Duties/Responsibilities

The successful applicant will provide operational support in the management of material resources and logistics for the achievement of the objectives of the Commission

  • Facilitates the acquisition of storage and management of materials and logistics
  • Collects data for the preparation of work plans in the Division
  • Facilitates the organisation of all meetings, seminars, workshops and conferences of the Commission and produce appropriate minutes and reports
  • Collects data for the preparation of work plans, annual budget, and reports of the of the Division

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited tertiary institution in Business Administration, Public Administration, Management, Social Sciences, or any related field
  • Must have completed National Service

Competencies

  • Good leadership, communication, interpersonal, presentation and report writing skills
  • Good qualitative and quantitative analytical skills

Job Title: Assistant Finance Manager

Duties/Responsibilities

The successful applicant will provide operational support in the management of financial resources for the achievement of the objectives of the Commission

  • Collects inputs for preparation of guidelines for the management of the Commission’s financial resources
  • Collaborates with relevant stakeholders in the management of financial resources and preparation of accounts of the Commission
  • Undertakes to vet of all financial documents before payments are effected
  • Maintains proper books of accounts in accordance with best practices and standards
  • Undertakes reconciliation of records and accounts
  • Collect data for the preparation of monthly bank reconciliation statements
  • Collects data for the preparation of annual plans and budget of the Commission
  • Collects inputs for the preparation of annual and other periodic reports of the Division

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited tertiary institution in Accounting, Finance, B.Com. or any related field OR
  • Part II of a certification by a relevant accounting professional body (e.g. CIA, ICA, ACCA, etc.
  • Must have completed National Service

Competencies

  • Good leadership, communication, interpersonal, presentation and report writing skills
  • Good qualitative and quantitative analytical skills
  • Good knowledge of relevant financial laws, regulations and accounting standards

Job Title: Development Policy Analyst

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Assist in the Review and Formulation of a new Fisheries Sector Development Policy Framework
  • Conduct Quantitative Fisheries Sector Growth Analysis and advise the Executive Director on Policy Options to be implemented to accelerate the development of the Sector
  • Assist in the development of a New Fisheries and Aquaculture Growth Model for the Transformation of the Fisheries Sector
  • Conduct periodic Research on Topical Fisheries and Aquaculture related issues that underpin the growth potentials of the sector
  • Train officers on Quantitative Policy Design, Analysis, Development Planning and Development Resource Allocation
  • Conduct research on the current untapped growth potentials of the Fisheries and Aquaculture sector, and advise the Executive Director on feasible growth-inducing options to be taken
  • Assist the Commission to develop sector-specific performance measurement (M&E) tools

Qualifications

  • At least a Master’s Degree (from a recognized University) in (i) Economics (with a sound background in Economic Policy Analysis, Development Modelling, Econometrics & Statistics), or, (ii) Development Policy & Planning (with a focus on Quantitative Policy Analysis, and Development Performance Measurement)
  • Knowledge in Econometric & Quantitative Policy Analysis softwares is an advantage
  • At least a minimum of 10 years working experience in Development Policy and Planning related fields in the Public Sector
  • Must have completed National Service
