The Energy Commission seeks a result-oriented individual for the position Natural Gas Infrastructure Inspector.

OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION

The Natural Gas Infrastructure Inspector will be responsible for inspecting natural gas infrastructure across the country.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise and manage the Natural Gas Inspection Team, under the direction of the Director, Inspection and Enforcement.
  • Develop and implement annual programmes for periodic inspection and monitoring of natural gas infrastructure.
  • Review inspection findings of natural gas infrastructure operators, and demand
    necessary corrective measures (where necessary).
    Recommend enforcement action by the Commission for violations of the regulations.
  • Monitor and review performance reports, operation and maintenance plans of licensed entities in the natural gas industry for compliance with relevant rules
    and regulations.
  • Monitor construction of natural gas infrastructure to ensure compliance with permit requirements and regulations.
  • Oversee inquiries into incidents/accidents and submit accident/incident reports including recommendations for new measures to improve safety.
  • Develop compliance database of players in the natural gas industry in Ghana
  • Monitor and enforce all non-compliance issues.
  • Assist in the development of new regulations for the natural gas sector in Ghana.
  • Recommend policies for the efficient, economical and safe supply Of natural gas in Ghana.
  • Coordinate research and surveys into the development and utilization of natural gas.
  • Develop and implement programmes to enhance awareness of licence/permit requirements among personnel in the gas sector.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BSc. Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • Plus a relevant Master’s degree.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years post qualification experience in design construction, repair, operation, or inspection of in-service Piping systems.
  • A minimum of two years in supervision of inspection activities.
  • A working knowledge of pipeline repairs involving defects, evaluation and welding repair methods iS required. Experience in inspection of construction and maintenance projects according to guidelines and regulations is also required.
  • Pipeline Construction Inspector Certification or similar certification in Gas infrastructure inspection will be an advantage.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Demonstrate ethics and integrity;
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate good organizational skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills;
  • IT literacy skills (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision.
