The management of the Bluecrest College has released the entry requirements for admission of prospective undergraduates and postgraduate students for the academic session. The entry requirements are for the various programmes offered in the College.

UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMMES:

Bluecrest College Entry Requirements

Category A: Senior High School (SHS) Certificate holders

i. Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE) students must have six (6)
credit passes (A-D), including three (3) Core Subjects: English Language, Mathematics,
Science/Integrated Science or Social Studies and three (3) elective subjects with
aggregates not more than 24.

ii. West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE) applicants must have
six (6) credit passes (A1 – C6) in three (3) core subjects: Mathematics, English,
Integrated Science or Social Studies and three (3) elective subjects with aggregates not
more than 36.

The equivalences of the WASSCE/SSSCE grading system appear in Table 1

Category B: School Certificate/GCE Holders

Must have five (5) credits at the GCE ‘O’ Level including English Language and
Mathematics as well as two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in relevant subjects excluding General
Paper

Category C: General Business Certificate Examination (GBCE) Holders

Must have six (6) credits at the GBCE including Mathematics, English Language,
Integrated Science or Social Studies and three other subjects at the GBCE

Category D: Advanced Business Certificate Examination (ABCE) Holders

i. Must have passes in three (3) subjects (at least, one of the passes should be Grade D or
better).

ii. In addition, the applicant must have credit passes in six (6) subjects including
Mathematics, English Language, Integrated Science or Social Studies and three (3)
others subjects at the GBCE.

iii. Applicants with ABCE diploma will be admitted to level 200.

Category E: Mature Applicants

i. Must be at least 25 years by 1st February or 1st September of the academic year one
wants to enrol
ii. Must have credit passes in Core Mathematics and Core English, or
iii. Must pass the mature students entrance examination in general paper (including English and Mathematics) and a special paper (to test standard achievement in subjects
relevant to the program for which he/she is applying) in lieu of ii.
iv. Must pass an interview

Category F: HND Holders

i. Must have a Higher National Diploma (HND) or an equivalent diploma in relevant field
with at least a Second Class Lower Division pass
ii. Must have at least two years post-HND working experience
iii. Qualified applicants will be admitted to Level 300

Category G: Transfer Students

i. Applicants who completed Level 100 in a marketing programme from a recognized
institution can be permitted to enter into Level 200.
ii. Applicants who completed Level 200 in a oil and gas management programme from a
recognized institution can be permitted to enter into Level 300.
iii. All transfer applicant s must meet the minimum entry requirements in A, B, C, D or E.

Progression from one Level to other

A continuing student who fails a total of four (4) courses but attains a minimum CGPA of 1.0 shall be placed on probation for one academic year during which he/she must repeat the failed courses (if they are compulsory or replace the courses if they are not compulsory). Such students will be referred to as External Candidates.
i. A student on probation will be assumed to be repeating the program.
ii. A student cannot be on probation more than once during his/her program.
iii. A student on probation who fails to pass all his/her failed courses or fails to obtain the
minimum CGPA of 1.0 shall be withdrawn.

POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES:

M.Sc Computing

The normal entry requirement is a good honours degree (2:2 or above) in a non-computing discipline;candidates with other backgrounds and experience will also be considered. It is expected that applicants have basic IT skills in using a PC, for example using MS Office packages such as Word and Excel, sending and receiving emails, and using a web browser such as IE. Applicant must submit an English Proficiency Letter as part of the admission requirement

M.Sc IT Management

The normal entry requirement is a good honours degree (2:2 or above) or equivalent in a computing or IT discipline. Applicant must submit an English Proficiency Letter as part of the admission requirement
