We’re looking for a strategic leader to direct global logistics, supply chain management, and other operations work across the African continent needed for deploying, servicing, and managing ereading programs in schools, libraries and community centers.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the director of global logistics leads a small global team to deliver cost-effective business process improvements, control inventory (e-readers or other
electronic devices, solar equipment and related accessories), oversee demand planning, review service levels provided by third party suppliers, deliver exceptional support to partners, and ensure the environmental sustainability of all e-reading programs across the continent.

Job Description

Job Title: Director Global Logistics

Responsibilities

In partnership with the Chief Operating Officer, create/revise/implement Worldreader’s supply chain strategy.
Act as the resident expert in both local and pan-African procurement, logistics, inventory management procedures and practices.
Identify, evaluate, and build strong relationships with vendors; negotiate, develop and manage vendor contracts.
Support Regional Leaders to ensure that all programs and projects are adequately and timely resourced, simultaneously maximizing the use of all available resources.
Determine and develop a global technical assistance program to best support regional teams and our program partners.
Collect, monitor, and analyze data to support the quantification, forecasting and supply planning for programs and projects across the continent.
Lead, grow, support, and mentor a global logistics team to implement best-practices and standards to all of our countries from warehouse management, to local shipping, inventory management and customer services to our partners.
In collaboration with organizational leaders, strategically and tactically develop, align and implement scalable and adaptable (both in numbers and geography) environmental sustainability policies and procedures.

Qualifications

5 + years prior international leadership role in inventory management, procurement and logistics.
Experience in international supply chain management of electronic devices or similar hazardous materials, specifically customs and shipping regulations.
Proven track record of client service/customer satisfaction.
Strong technology skills and experience with CRMs, ERP software, and cloud applications (Google apps, Dropbox, etc).

Advanced proficiency in English plus other common languages spoken in key geographies in East & West Africa.

Nice to Have

Experience or passion in hazardous materials recycling processes is a plus.
University degree or certificates related to business management, operations, or supply chain management.
Fluency in French, Swahili, Twi or other African languages.

Location
Accra, Ghana.
