Teacher group Supports GES’s decision to Sack and Interdict Headmasters over Free SHS exhortations
All Teachers Alliance Ghana, the Teacher Union under the Ghana Education Service, has supported the decision of the Ghana Education Education to sack and interdict headmasters for allegedly exhorting monies from beneficiaries of the Free Senior High School Policy.
In a Statement issued by the group pertaining the recent sanctioning and interdiction of the headteachers, the teacher union has indicated its decision to support the idea by their employers.
Accoto the Union, it wanted to believe that due process was been followed in accordance with the laid down disciplinary procedures in carrying out those sanctions and interdictions.
It emphasized, that If these headteachers flouted the directives concerning the free SHS then the union accepts that the decision is in order to deter others from endangering the smooth take off the free SHS policy.
The union believed that there was too much sympathy for people who forget their professions are being governed by codes of ethics and it must applied as such.
“If these headteachers do not hesitate to apply sanctions when necessary, then they must accept these sanctions in good faith.” It stated.
The Union also suggested to the affected headteachers to seek legal or alternative redress if they suspected any foul play or unfairness or feel remorseful about their actions and inactions.
The Union sympathized with the leadership of CHASS for what had befallen some of its members and ask them to admonish the rest to strictly adhere to laid down rule governing the free SHS.
