The Management Development and Productivity Institute (MDPI) was established on 26th October, 1967 under a joint Ghana Government, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and International Labour Organisation (ILO) Project. The Institute replaced its forerunner, the National Productivity Centre (NPC) which had been established in June 1964 as part of the then Planning Commission. The Legislative Instrument (LI) 1077 of 1st July, 1976 incorporated the Management Development and Productivity Institute as a parastatal. The Institute was formally handed over to the Ghana Government by the UNDP and ILO in 1977 when the joint sponsorship ended.
Job Description
Job Title:Â Human Resource Manager III
The incumbent will report to the Director, Finance and Administration;
The incumbent’s responsibility include:-
Assisting in preparing plans covering the human resource needs of the Institute and submit to the Director, F & A for approval & implementation;
Provide assistance and advice in the recruitment, selection and placement of new employees and follow the progress of the newly engaged workers;
Advising management on the establishment of equitable wage and salary rates for attracting and retaining staff;
Maintaining efficient personnel records keeping system to ensure easy accessibility and retrieval of information;
To ensure that all personal refords are safe from unauthorized users;
Assisting in determining training needs of all categories of staff and to ensure training is effective conducted;
To ensure that induction and orientation programmes are orqanized for all newly employed staff;
To coordinate all interviews for the employment of prospective staff as well as exit interviews;
To arrangement long service and or retirement awards where applicable;
To update regularly job descriptions of the various job positions of the Institute;
Administering welfare services of the Institute including medical, safety, and fire protection, recreational and funerals;
Promoting workplace safety and sound employee health;
Corresponding with other Institutions on the training of employees of the Institute upon the recommendations of their supervisors;
Checking on credentials, references and medical fitness of all new employees;
Effecting employment, dismissal, promotion and transfer of all employees as may be directed by the Director, F & A;
Disciplining immediate subordinates in accordance with laid down policies;
Performing any other functions as my assigned by the Director, F & A.
Required Skills or Experience
The incumbent must hold a Bsc. Administration, Human Resource Management, an advanced degree in Human Resource will be an added advantage
A post qualification relevant working experience of five (5) years in a reputable Institution.
