Ho Technical University invites applications from qualified candidates for the position of the REGISTRAR of the University, which will become vacant on September 1, 2019.
About Ho Technical University
Ho Technical University is located in the Volta Region of Ghana. The University was converted from a Polytechnic to a Technical University in September, 2016 by an Act of Parliament establishing Technical Universities in Ghana.
The University’s mandate as specified in the Technical Universities Act 2016, (Act922) is to provide higher education in engineering, science and technology-based disciplines, technical and vocational education and training, applied arts and related disciplines.
The vision of the University is to become a reputable Technical University contributing actively to national and international development, and its mission is to train highly competent human resource to the highest level possible through career-focused education, skills training and research, in partnership with stakeholders.
THE POSITION
The Registrar is the Chief Administrative Officer of the University and is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the University under the Vice-Chancellor and in accordance with policy directives of the Council.
The Registrar is also Secretary to the University Council and the Academic Board. He/She provides strategic advice and briefings to the Vice-Chancellor and is expected to provide leadership and management across a wide range of activities in the University.
QUALIFICATION REQUIRED AND EXPERIENCE
The applicant must:
- Have minimum of Master’s degree preferably in Administration and Management related area;
- Have served as a Deputy Registrar in a University or comparable grade in a similar institution/organization for at least six (6) years;
- Be computer literate;
- Have strong intellect with excellent managerial, communication and interpersonal skills;
- Have a deep appreciation of the academic working environment of Ho Technical University;
- Be principled with strong and proven sense of public morality and integrity;
- Have an understanding of the tertiary education environment, particularly local higher education policies and practices;
- Have considerable experience in dealing with a wide variety of internal and external publics of a University;
- Have proven emotional stability.
The eligible candidate should be able to complete a Four (4) year term of office before attaining age Sixty (60).
