Gov’t still owes Newly Trained Teachers Feeding grant Arrears
Newly trained teachers from the Public Colleges of Education are still being owed a semester feeding grant arrears by the government.
This information was contained in a press release by a teacher trainee pressure group,”Coalition of Concerned Teachers” who were ‘fighting’ the Ghana Education Service to post them to the various basic schools in the country as school resumed two weeks ago.
“Besides the fact that the government even owes us a semester’s feeding fee, we have also been hoodwinked of getting immediate employment due to our condition.” The group said.
The Payment of feeding grant to teacher trainees came into existence under the leadership of former President John Mahama.
The feeding grant was been paid to replace the allowances paid trainees, which the. The government described as a Scrap to create the opportunity for more students to be admitted to the Colleges of Education in the Country.
Meanwhile, due to the delay in its release to the various Colleges, Trainees were billed to pay such fees with the hope of subsequent payment by the government.
Recently, the government released monies to pay such grants but not all semesters’ arrears were been released by the government.
