Ghana Library Authority Read2Skill Workforce Recovery Programme

In line with our vision of connecting every Ghanaian to knowledge resources, the Ghana Library Authority has signed a partnership with the Commonwealth of Learning (CoL) to roll out online learning for skills acquisition in Ghana.

A strategy to help individuals who have lost their jobs due to the effects of the covid-19 pandemic to upgrade themselves or learn new skills.

Commonwealth of Learning is the world’s only inter-governmental organization and solely concerned with:

  • The promotion and development of distance education
  • The promotion and development of open learning

The project, named“Read2Skill workforce recovery programme” will be offering scholarships to five thousand (5,000) Ghanaians in its first year through a competitive application process. The Read2Skill workforce recovery programme forms part of GhLA’s technology strategy to radically connect Ghanaians to learning resources through online learning platforms.

Apart from Ghana, there are other countries such as Nigeria, Kenya, Barbados, Canada, India, Bahamas, Sri Lanka etc who would be benefiting from this projects.

The courses will be offered on the digital learning platform called Coursera. The objective of the programme is:

  • To help individuals who need immediate skills to regain employment.
  • To help individuals who have lost their jobs or are on the verge of losing their job learn new skills and upgrade themselves.
  • To help improve on individuals’ income through acquiring new skill sets.
  • To help individuals start their own businesses.
