Scholarship Description:

The University of Brunei Darussalam is accepting applications for its scholarship program in 2023-24. International students worldwide can apply for this fully funded scholarship to pursue a Master’s or Ph.D. degree starting in January 2024. The scholarship covers all expenses necessary to complete the degree, and there is no application fee required.

UBD offers a wide range of academic fields and majors, encompassing disciplines such as Islamic Studies, Business, Arts, Science, Health Sciences, Asian Studies, Policy Studies, Education, Biodiversity, and Integrated Technologies. The scholarship provided by UBD covers all expenses associated with pursuing postgraduate degree programs.

Established in 1985, the University of Brunei Darussalam (UBD) is Brunei’s first university. It holds a prominent position in the academic landscape, being ranked 86th in Asia according to the 2022 QS Asia University Rankings, and 254th in the world based on the 2020 QS World University Rankings.

Degree Level:

The University of Brunei offers the scholarship in three categories, each with its respective duration:

1. Master by Coursework: The program can be completed in twelve (12) months of full-time study or eighteen (18) months, depending on the specific program.

2. Master by Research: The program requires twenty-four (24) months of full-time study.

3. Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.): The minimum period of study for a Ph.D. is thirty-six (36) months of full-time study or sixty (60) months of part-time study, depending on the program.

Scholarship Benefits:

The University of Brunei Darussalam Scholarship 2023-24 offers full financial support for postgraduate degree programs to both national and international students at UBD. The scholarship includes the following provisions:

•  Waiver of tuition fees, including registration and acceptance fees at Universiti Brunei Darussalam.
•  A monthly subsistence allowance of BND 2200.00 for a duration of 36 months.
•  On-campus accommodation for the entire duration of 36 months.
•  One round trip economy class air ticket is provided from the student’s home country upon accepting the scholarship and to their home country upon completion of their studies.
•  Allowances for field research, with BND 1000.00 allocated for Arts and Humanities candidates and BND 2000.00 for Science candidates.

Eligible Nationalities:

This scholarship is open to international students of all nationalities.

Eligibility Criteria:

•  Eligibility is open to students from both Brunei and other countries.
•  Applicants for the Master’s degree program must hold a First Class Bachelor’s degree.
•  For the Doctoral degree program, a Master’s degree certificate is required.
•  A high-quality and impactful research proposal is necessary.
•  Candidates should demonstrate their suitability and readiness to pursue studies in their chosen area.
• Meeting the English language requirements is a mandatory criterion.
