The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, KNUST Management Renews Affiliation Of Affiliate Private Institutions.

The Management of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has renewed its affiliation with fourteen (14) Private affiliated institutions through affiliation the signing of a Memoranda of Understanding(MoU) with the institutions.

Professor Kwasi Obiri-Danso, Vice-chancellor, Reverend Professor Charles Ansah, Pro Vice- Chancellor and Mr. Andrews Kwasi Boateng, Registrar, represented the University, while the Presidents and Registrars of the affiliated institutions signed for their various institutions.

The institutions were Anglican University College of Technology, Accra Institute of Technology, Heritage Christian University, Christian Service University College, Narh Beta College, KAAF University, Radford University and Pentecost University.

Others were Kessben University College, Institute of Local Government Studies, Spiritan University, Regent University College and the Ghana Telecom University College.

Addressing the affiliated institutions, Professor Kwasi Obiri-Danso stated that the University’s concern is with ensuring a strong relationship with partner institutions. He continued that the strong relationship affords partner institutions the opportunity to network and share ideas as well as benefit from mentoring, coaching and nurturing to help train high quality products for the country.

He also cautioned them against going contrary to the rules of the affiliation and expressed concern about how some affiliated institutions recruit and promote staff without notifying the mentor institution. He also informed them of initiatives by KNUST management to assist them to better manage their institutions.

Professor Kwasi Obiri-Danso also revealed that the affiliation fees have been reduced for a second time since he took office in view of the challenges faced by some of the institutions, particularly with enrolment. In this regard, he encouraged them to run innovative and demand driven programmes to attract more applicants and pledged the University’s support to them.

The affiliated institutions also enumerated some of the challenges they face as competition from their colleague private institutions, challenge of running similar programmes, delays in accrediting and approving programmes among others.
