GES Approved Subjects for Study Leave with Pay 2023/2024 Academic Year

The Ghana Education Service has released approved Subjects for Study Leave with pay for both teaching and non-teaching staff for the 2023/2024 academic year.

The 25 lists of subjects for study leave with pay and percentage allocations attribute to teaching and non-teaching staff of the Ghana Education Service.

Conditions for the Grant of Study Leave With Pay

1. The minimum number of years to serve before qualifying for the grant of Study Leave With Pay is 3 (three) years of satisfactory service. A beneficiary of Study Leave With Pay shall be bonded for the number of years served at the Institution plus one (1) year.

2. An applicant  (Staff of GES) who served in a designated deprived area for Two (2) years may be eligible for consideration for the grant of Study Leave with Pay.

3. Non-Professional graduate teachers should have served for at least one (1) year before being eligible for any of the Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) courses.

4. Staff of the Service returning from the Secondment must serve a minimum of two (2) years before they become eligible for Study Leave With Pay.

5. Staff of the Service who vacate, leave the service and are re-appointed/re-engaged must serve a minimum of five (5) years before being eligible for Study Leave With Pay.

6.  A Staff who does not qualify for the grant of Study Leave With Pay in the first year cannot apply again in the second year of his/her studies. The staff must apply for Study Leave Without Pay to pursue the course.

7. A Staff who is eligible for Study Leave With Pay must have a minimum of two (2) years to serve after the course. For example, a Staff who is Fifty-Five (55) years and above cannot apply for Study Leave With Pay to pursue a course that lasts Four (4) years or more. He/She can, however, apply to pursue courses that have a duration of between (1) and Three (3) years.

8. A Staff shall be eligible for Study Leave With Pay subject to the following:

  1. Good conduct and performance
  2. Recommendation by immediate supervisor.

  1. Please why is English language having 60% but Ghanaian is having 30%?;please this is not fair at all it is a cheat. What what ever that is being studied in English is also studied in Ghanaian language ..GES should try and accord some respect to our Countries language ….I red
    both languages in school and I can tell you with fact that whatever I red in English I also did the same in Ghanaian language .please it’s not fair let them be on the same scale as it is every where let us respect Ghanaian language .Is very difficult to write and pass courses associated to Ghanaian language

Please if something can be done about ICT….l will be pleased….Ict not being part of the courses that qualified for study with pay this year will affect most of us. we should be encouraged and motivated to study the course so that we will come back and impact knowledge technologically on the young ones since the world is now a technological world …please consider our complaints and do something about it ….We are pleading

  3. Pls why this late publication? Because some of us have already filled and submitted out applications online and our subject (ict) has been exempted…. pls what do u want us to do

  4. Please is Agriculture Science on it own or is associated with Integrated Science?If it is on its own,is it approved?

  5. Pls is agriculture part of the study leave subjects?last year I was told that they removed agriculture from the study leave subjects

      If on it own, why not not granted study leave?
